I keep seeing men being described as gentlemen on verifications and there was even a thread today asking if dominant sexual partners are gentlemen outside of the bedroom but what exactly is a gentleman? Someone who gives you a few compliments and isn't rude for the few hours you're banging them? Realistically the man women see and the man around men are two different people. I don't think someone can be called a gentleman after a few hours of chatting or sex. You need to live with them but I'm interested in what constitutes a gentleman for others. |

OK this post isn't going to get much notice haha but to put things into perspective you text a guy for a few days maybe longer, ye agree to meet up for sex in a hotel (probably pay half each),you're not wined and dined or really courted and after he bangs you he goes home and writes up on the Internet about how much of a good shag you were. Obviously not all meets are exactly like that but a good amount are. Is the word gentleman just thrown around because you don't know how else to describe that person? And I'm not saying they can't be gentlemen even after my general scenario but I'm saying I can't see enough being done in a scenario like that for the word gentleman to be used |

Ya he's not, I know the guy. He thinks holding a girls hair during a bj constitutes a gentleman. I told him that's just standard decent behaviour and a real gentleman will throw a girls legs over his shoulders so she doesn't get tired holding them up. |

I have described some men as gentlemen in the past. For me, it's someone who is polite, but not sickeningly so. Someone who can hold a normal decent conversation, someone who doesn't make me feel like a piece of meat....someone who listens and doesn't just talk. They're all basic good manners in my book, but I think the word has different meanings to different people. |

I suppose the word can be used in those cases but it's really easy to be like that with someone you're only around for a day or two days max with a high possibility of sex. Hang around with the same men for in everyday situations more frequently with a lower possibility of sex and in most cases I think you'll take your words back. BTW I'm in no way saying I'm any better than any man on here. Really I'm making a fuss out of a word but it's a word used more often than most haha"

Despite the fact that im a gentleman, I have no luck with the women. Recently I saw an attractive woman, I decided to open the doors for her. Unfortunately she got sucked out of the plane |

Its a great question Op...
I get called "a gent" at least once everyday. I used to see that title as as a drawback, akin to being called "a nice guy"
Now, I like the idea of being a gent as it means you carry yourself with class and manners, you're polite and courteous with women ...but you still get to be a naughty fucker in the bedroom too
...which is just fine with this gent |

Can a man not be a gentleman just because he engages in casual sex (or a woman a lady), this whole conversation is loaded with morality being connected with sexual prudishness.
A gentleman (to me), is a polite, measured man with integrity. Treats others with equal respect and not just a false veneer or lip service.
That doesn’t mean that he can’t engage in casual sex, two (or more) eager, consenting adults can do as they wish so long as everyone is being transparent and not Machiavellian.

It has nothing to do with sex, I'm just saying in most cases you only really meet people here for sex and you don't really know them as an everyday person. I know men and even have friends that would be described as gentlemen by people who have just met them casually but I know them properly and I wouldn't say they are. 1 meet and and few texts every few weeks or months doesn't mean you know someone. |

That's exactly it. You can treat women with respect, be upfront, walk them to their car and even text them the next day...
I love being called "nice" and "a gent" as I can be those things...
...but being a gentleman doesn't mean you have to be any way gentle in the bedroom |

I suppose it’s all subjective - verifications are just first impressions opinions after all.
Lots of crazies can keep up a pretense of a sensible, polite, courteous, level headed person for years.
Does anyone ever know anyone until they live with them ?
Same for attractiveness comments in verifications .... they are probably mostly a little too generous, because people rent to err on the side of caution and kindness when putting up a public comment.
All just opinions (not facts ... other than the person exists). |

"I was a tourist in Paris last year and on the subway daily and seen young healthy business type men (men is suits) on those subways. At times they would be packed. Those men would sometimes have seats and I'd see older women and men standing up with bags etc...never seen any man offer a seat to those people (I was only there 3-4days) but what I am saying is those same men with the promise of sex off a woman will suddenly be the most polite and thoughtful man in their presence. A gentleman is a gentleman to everyone not a just a date. Anyway I'm starting to rant. "

If they have been called a gentleman in a verification it shows other women he was respectful and had manners and polite. Not texting saying want to be my cum dumpster (my friend actually was asked that).
If a guy is a gentleman on this to get sex that’s ok to me at least he can hold himself well around women, even if he is a dick in his real life |

The definition of a gentleman used to be one who steps out of the shower to pee.
The definition of a Scottish gentleman used to be one who knows how to play the bagpipes but chooses not to.
The definition of an Australian gentleman used to be one who steps out of the shower to take a dump.
Who knows? |

This, I may add someone who stays respectful and pleasing behind closed doors. |
