So I’ve just seen a trailer for the final film in the Fifty Shades trilogy to be released on Valentines Day next year & straight away I thought there’s going to be an influx of newbies to the site next February.
But it got me thinking too about the lulls and highs that we have on Fab such as summer holidays, midterms and Christmas. What other times of the month or the year where we see lots of newbies joining or the place being really quiet? |

With the likes of Fifty Shade out in Valentine's I would think another site would get more newbies as more along that line rather than swinging
Tweets about this place is another time u get newbies |

"Fifty shades is BDSM for people who haven't a clue about BDSM."
Yes of course & while I haven’t seen any of the films, apart from the trailers, I believe it’s a poor effort at it. |

"Never seen movies, never read books. Does seem like best way to spend my time on. Isn’t that targeted at girls that get no attention and no action? :P
"
Read the first five pages of the book.. complete rubbish. Couldn't stomach the movies. No reflection on real life. |

Read two pages of the middle of one of the books. The grammatical errors drove me nuts and the sexual description was worse than I sext when pisshhed!
Saw the first movie - dull. Stopped the second movie after 20mins.
Total BS, as the Yankees say |

I read the 1st two books and few chapters of the 3rd. I had a small child at the time and needed a book I could read and not need to concentrate on! I thought the books were promoting a narcissistic man and an abusive relationship! He controlled her mind in every way. I put it down and haven’t bothered picking it up again in 3yrs!!! |

Poorly written. . Flawed badly thought out characters. .. juvenile descriptions of sex .. the weakness of the main character was unforgivable and yet I'm ashamed to say it did finish the books.
Went with a group of women slightly tipsy and dressed up to see number 1 movie ...went with same group to number 2 .... fell fast asleep. They have photos to prove it |

The quietest spell I've ever seen here was the week after someone wished the Queen of England a happy birthday. I think about twenty people got hit with the ban hammer and it was possibly the funniest thread I've ever seen as well. Four or five years ago, I think? |

Read the first 5 or so pages of the first book. It was so badly written I couldn't stay going. It just annoyed me. I will read, watch, listen to anything that shows talent...but this was painful to read.
A lot of women I know though obviously read the books and then saw the films. There has to be something in it for them despite the terrible prose. Can anyone explain? Is it the subject matter? |

I think women who do explore their naughtiness find it sexy and a turn on a man can do such things and bring you to heights that you’ve not reached before |

"To be fair though, neither the book nor the movies were ever meant to be a documentary about bdsm. They were commercial projects and as such were an outstanding success. "
They were based on fan fiction from the film Twilight. |

I think what 50 shades did do, was give women the confidence to be a bit more risqué when it came to sex wheter it be bdsm, swinging, or just voicing what they wanted to try, without that feeling of being judged or feeling like they couldn't or shouldn't....
