Does a History of Cheating Lead to Swinging?

Cheating seems to be the hot topic on the forum lately. Is there some sort of connection between those who have cheated or been cheated on in the past turning to swinging in future relationships? Is it possibly some peoples way of preventing cheating. If the acts that are usually considered cheating in a relationship are Ok'ed by the parties in that relationship (thus they agree to swing) then cheating wont be a problem anymore. Any thoughts? |

Hmmmmm...my thoughts.... if you are allowing swinging in your relationship in order to prevent cheating, then thats a dysfunctional relationship. If you want to swing and your partner doesnt, then maybe you're in the wrong relationship. Cheating is just plain wrong. Not judging here...but as a starting point you have to accept that its wrong. I guess theres lots on here cheating? |

Even with boundaries and many of the same rules as in monogamous relationships, people are going to cheat. Swinging is a choice you make. Being cheated on is a choice someone else makes for you. |

Was married 26 yrs... first partner I had. Never cheated physically. ..but mentally I had. Some may say thinking and dwelling on it is cheating. |

Of course, but I'm not talking about marriage breakdown, and maybe its more comfortable for some people to focus on other peoples infidelity than acknowledge their own, I can understand that. |

If the driving force for swinging is cheating prevention you have the wrong mindset imo and it could do more harm than any good. Is there a connection? Sure you could argue swinging as a couple allows you to commit adultery with your partners consent and sets boundaries for it both agree on however the driving force should be to enrich your sex life and live out fantasies and desires. |

Alot on here wont admit to it. Kind of reminds me of the conversation we had with some women before. She was sitting up on her high horse saying shed never have sex on first date because its wrong.
