This will open the debate on assault weapons and the general gun laws in the USA and then we will have the hysteria from people over here about why we even need guns here.

One of the biggest problems that the States have is mental health help etc yes access to weapons might be too easy

Nevada has possibly the most permissive gun laws in the US.

as the meme currently doing the rounds says: "debate on gun reform is pointless after sandy hook, if the US government is ok with kids being killed....."

That's not quite true. Obama's Democrat govt wanted change but simply didn't have enough power.

One of the pro gun lobby arguments after Sandy Hook was that what was needed was less fun control and that if the teachers carried guns then it wouldn't have happened. There's some seriously fucked up thinking in the States.

Stop being so melodramatic. The gun laws are strict in the UK and as for bombings there where a lot more bombings in the 70s and 80s.

As tragic and awful it is, I doubt that there will be any changes regarding gun law in the USA.

In this instance when I refer to "American Government" I mean bipartisan. One party voted against the reform. I wonder which party that was?

Actually despite all the horrors we see in the news, we're currently living in the safest period in all of human history.

I'm afraid the the riffle association of America rule the country . They start wars to help out the gun factories . America would close down if they had no guns .

It is very sad.

But just heard on the last word, that they will be bringing in a law in america to relax the laws on silencers.

That is fecking nuts, considering how many deaths from guns they have each year.

Instead of doing the right thing by having gun control, they are actually making things worse.

Horrifying stuff.

A wonderful country in some parts but it values the second amendment more than it does the health of it's citizens. A country that where it's "pro life" advocates are usually right wing pro gun. Not exactly pro life.

The "freedoms" enjoyed in the U.S are the perfect breeding ground for these horrific attacks to occur.

Gun laws far too lax.

Some are saying thw shooter had mental health issues so they can abdicate responsibilty of the NRA and govt who have between them left society open to such attacks.

The Trump govt also wants to cut mental health funding and make it easier to get silencers.

One "mentally ill" man boarded a plane with a bomb in his shoes a few years back now people are required to take their shoes off befkre boarding a plane yet some peoole seem to think loosening gun laws will make Amerjca safer.

The shooter had assault rifles. No need for a citizen to have weaponry of that kind in their possession.

There are responsible gun owners for sure but guns make killers out of people who are in a frantic emotionally unstable state that would not ordinarily be a killer.

Imagine a species so evil we look at the self appointed leaders of the "free world" as the highest murder per capia of any developed country.

There is no hell.

There js no heaven.

There will be no justice for the victims of this massacre.

Thoughts and prayers are utterly redundant to those who have lost loced ones. Nothing will replace their loved ones. Neither thoughts nor prayers shall prevent the next atrocity.

Pray for London, New York,Las Vegas, Columbine, SandyHook, Paris ,Brussels, Amsterdam, Manchester, Orlando, Barcelona, Madrid, Munich, Nice , Berlin, Srockholm etc

The world needs a major rethink in how it deals with these attacks. Action is needed.

In America "lone wolf" attacks may never be stopped but proactive steps to tighten gun control could make some bit of a difference but I doubt the political will is there to make the neccessary change to preserve more life at the expense of infringing on some nutters rights to own a gun.

It's odd that if the attacker wears a beard and has a funny accent then they take all kinds of action.

But when the attacker is American they wring their hands and say nothing can be done.

If you Google Sandy hook you will see lots of posts saying it never happened.

The reason silencers are popular is because gun sales are down. Sales fall when there is a pro gun lobby. So to keep the industry going they promote accessories.

It's that fucked up
