I'm not a cake person but if you insist of me choosing one, I'd say the multilayered gateau I'd go for. Something with sponge, cream, custard, chocolate, cherries or strawberries. Mmmm it can get soooo messy.
What I can't eat is anything containing raisins and candied fruit/peel. So Christmas pudding is evil, it also represents a season I highly dislike. |

So many fruit cake haters, brilliant, leaves more for me! Proper Christmas cake, fed with whiskey for months, moist and delicious and decadently boozy! Yum yum. I can do without the marzipan though.
Have yet to have a coffee cake that actually tastes of coffee, even ones I've made myself. So for lack of taste that'd be my least favourite. |

Oxford lunch
Lemon drizzle
Choc fudge
Cheesecake not baked
Lemon meringue
Fruit Pavlova with sweetened cream.
I detest any cake with fresh cream in it unless it's sweetened. |

Black Forest has always been a favourite. Even tried my hand at making one or two that did turn out well.
Or baked American style
lemon and orange cheesecake.
Or lemon drizzle cake with coffee or tea.
All home made of course.
Can't stand Christmas pudding or Christmas fruit cake or carrot cake. |

My favourite was always anything by Teatime Express. Before they expanded and went to shit and then disappeared. When you had to go to the shop in Dublin to get them. They were scrumptious. There coffee or chocolate layer cakes were the thing of dreams.
Other than that, chocolate biscuit cake, made properly, with stale Rich Tea, chocolate, butter and rum essence. Simple and delicious. Why everyone seems to oversugar them and add all sorts of crap to them now drives me mental!!
Stick with the original and best. Just like Teatime should have.
Greed will be your downfall |
