The Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway. It's a comedy/drama/horror/sci-fi set in a post-apocalyptic world.
There are also pirates, ninjas and mimes. It's awesome.
Not really sure how to describe the plot, but the style is very Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett. |

Please read it! It's amazing Basically the plot starts when the narrator and his friends try and fix a hole in the pipe that's holding the world together... |

The truth about the Harry Quebert affair. Phenomenal reading. Movie in production. I think Ron Howard set to direct. A whodunnit like nothing you have read. |

Best book I've read is Riotous Assembly by Tom Sharpe! It takes the absolute piss out of Apartheid in South Africa...I actually burst out laughing a few times while reading it! Most of his books are funny but that one is hilarious! ! Well worth looking for if you need a chuckle |

World War Z by Max Brooks
Written as an account after a Zombie plague so it reads a bit like a history book.
War, History and Zombies the trifecta for me |

90% of what Stephen King puts out is great, with The Stand and The Dark Half being two of my favourites.
Read a book years ago called Freckles that was just brilliant. Can't remember who by.
Red Dragon was the only book that actually made me jump. Scary and brilliant precursor to Silence of the Lambs. |

For all you Harry Potter fans out there, try Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch.
Urban fantasy at its finest. And if you know London it’ll have you picturing everything more vividly. Love the series. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
As the blurb says, “What would happen if Harry Potter grew up and joined the Fuzz?” |

My favourite is Euripedes' "the Bachhai",I deeply recommend it, despite being written two and a half thousand years ago it has the best grasp of human nature I've ever seen in such a short piece. A close second is Goethe's Faust part 2, after that it's old Shakespeare and ted hughes punching each other in the eye 'til the end of time |

All the J K Rowling/Robert Galbraith books are a must, Expelliarmus!
Legend by David Gemmell
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
The wheel of time by Robert Jordan
And all of the books by Harlon Coben

The ragged trousered philanthropists. Robert Tressell
Read it in my late teens, and it blew me away, a life long socialist due in most part to this book, made me seek out more like it and like-minded folk.
Changed my life, true inspiration.
Also read Shogun by James Clavell around the same time, my interest in Asian culture was first sparked by this book and isstill strong to this day. |

Wheel of Time is most definitely top of my list. I have read it at least 3 times and on to my third listen through while driving in the car. Can't wait for the live action TV series to start. If done properly, it will be amazing. |

Loved it but was disappointed with his third book as it was disjointed.
I loved how he could make me gasp, I was so engrossed I worried about the characters. Such simplicity in how he unfolded the characters.
I love book threads too can you tell |
