I have 2 this year. 1 in september and the other in october. Both are "I have to go" weddings. I have no interest in going. The inconvenience of them being so close together is one thing but the cost is another (im paid monthly). Combined with the fact that I dont know many going to either Id rather not be invited! |

"Yep. Have one next year. I'm already wondering what lie to make up. "
I can't stand weddings whatsoever. I got invited to a wedding in FUCKING BELGIUM. Neither the Bride nor the Groom are from Belgium, neither live there either; they just got a good deal.
These selfish cunts are getting married on a Wednesday in Belgium. So that's at least three days off work (either unpaid or my precious holiday days), flights, hotel, car rental, wedding present, spending money and lifts to and from the airport to organise.
I swear right now if I ever get married it'll be a barbecue with family and friends. Strict dress code of no suits, no dresses and anyone with professionally done make up can turn at the door and go home lol

I rarely ever go. Don't give a fuck if people complain. They'll get over it, and if they don't, you won't have to go to the second wedding one of them has |

That was my initial reflexive response but once I calmed down a bit I realised that having been friends with both for 7/8 years means I'm more or less obliged to go. I forgot to even factor in the stag do which will likely be in Mozambique or somewhere lol |

Apparently 200 in a card from a couple is the minimum...I would have guessed 150 but thats not enough according to some |

I have something similar coming up. It's my best friend. I'm bridesmaid and it's a full bloody week in Vegas. Like seriously I don't get what some people do be thinking. |

I have dodged weddings for nearly 30 years. (Should have started avoiding them a few years earlier and missed my own)
But at the weekend I got invited to a wedding reception. The wedding is close family only.
The groom is laying on buses to take anyone that drinks in his pub that wants to go to a local, very nice, hotel. Free drinks, free food, free music and then bussed back to his pub for more drink .
And is refusing presents.
Now, should I go or not? |

You just have to grow a pair and dont go..
Unless its immmediate family you just tell them thanks but sadly i cant make it.
I hear people moaning they feel they have to invite certain people so they might not be as upset with you not going as you think. |

The advantage of getting older, those invites are becoming rather rare! There was a time you opened the mail box and another dreaded colourful envelope was waiting for you. I don't know why people get married, probably that's why it never happened to me but I'm glad I've grown out of it. |

Had a wedding last Friday. Good mate. Was a cracking wedding and we drove a bulling spree for the weekend.3 days on the sauce. Alot of weddings can be a pain in the hole but this one was epic. Mind you it burnt a hole in my wallet though. |

Bit different going to a family or friends wedding and a workmate's wedding...
Can't totally drink your ass off at the bar hook up with a bridesmaid (you know you want to..!) or have a good d*unken bitching session in the residents bar!
...Apart from that though, am sure you'll have a swell ol' time! |

I'd agree! I'm not fond of them....
Usually with a bunch of people you'd never normally socialise with....they go on for 3 days now.....they cost a fortune.....

Thankfully I haven't been invited to one in about 4 years, prior to that, there were about three pa. They were a robber. If I got an invitation, I would just reply with thanks, put 100shnots in a card and book a weekend away with the kids. That's the excuse, I had a weekend already booked and can't get out of it!! |

Weddings include: lots of food, lots of drinks, lots of live music, nicely dressed d*unk people of all ages, nationalities and sexes. Not to mention that the huge majority of people gets laid after the party.
Weddings are awesome!
But, if someone is cheap, grumpy, sad, non-social, boring person I can understand why they would dislike it |

It's a celebration of two people giving life a shot together so I'll eat, drink, socialise...

I love weddings. I have a dirty job so hard to beat getting well groomed and into a good suit. I don't mind the money side of it, you can always make more money. Eat plenty, drink plenty and jive who ever is willing around the dance floor lol had 7 this year so far and have 6 next year that I know of. |
