Water is a joke in this country.

We don't want to pay for it to be delivered to our taps, yet we will buy it by the trolley full in the supermarkets.

Baffling.

Like a lot of the rural population I paid for my own well, and it's maintenance, (while some pay through group schemes) we also pay for other people's water and sewerage via our taxes - go figure

Same here. I pay for the initial install, servicing, electricity to pump it and treatment on the other end. If I could pay €250 per year for supply and disposal of water, I'd jump at it.

But the free money, populism brigade don't want to pay for this essential service.

I think we are going to have huge problems in the coming years with ancient pipes needing to be replaced and we have decided that as a country we dont want to invest in the inftastrucure

Good on you for paying it. Sensible to pay for essential services.

I know a guy, well off, who is self employed in New Ross. He was very vocal on the water issue at the time of all the protests. Went to Dublin, Cork and anywhere else he could post pictures. Anyway, this one day he puts up z picture of his dog and in the background, standing proud as you like, was a Tipperary Water dispenser with a full vessel of water and spares on the floor. He got roasted for that one. Had an issue paying a couple of Euro for water from the state, yet, he was paying Tipp to deliver him water every fortnight. Hypocrite of the highest order.

Reality now coming home It's expensive to have water in the tap and the infracture to get it there.Thoseof us who have to pay for own in and out .System installation up to 10k Annual maintenance up to E400 If I could get it for E200 jump to it as well. SF Lyn Boylan proposed in European Parliment for an Annual Charge for Water They opposed it up to now seem to change tune in Europe's.

that's nuts!!

Well I have 2 sons, and I care for my mom as well, so didn't fancy doing jail time for not paying it, family is important.

Not a total tree hugger but built a house in 05/06. Put in water harvesting system. Rainwater off roofs pfiltered going in and filtered coming back out. Only one mains tap in kitchen, all showers, dish washers etc all on filtered rainwater. Works really well
