"No, its an excuse thrown out by when when caught playing away" that's the way I see it....with any other addiction you go to therapy and hope to never go back to your addiction. So how can that work for sex?

Absolutely. Its about an unhealthy relationship with sex, the way sex can be used as an emotional crutch and the behaviour some people can go to to get their fix.... Definitely used as an excuse by plenty of slebs, I reckon |

There is actually a recognised sex addiction. The people with it generally do not find the fun or release in it. It's a compulsion and people have lost their jobs etc over it. There are lots of counselling and supports available for it. I'd say the term is thrown around alot but there is a genuine condition |

Yes it's a recognized conditioned. I think it's used by celebs alot when they get caught cheating which is Bs. It's very different than just enjoying sex, someone with addiction will put themselves in dangerous situations just to get what they are craving.Like other addictions it can cause the persons life to spiral out of control. |

"A nymphomaniac....look it up,and much more common than people think.
But is it really the sex they are addicted to, or the attention?"
Its definitely the sex, although like all medical conditions there are different levels of illness and some traits may be borrowed from other facets of a damaged persona. But it is a very real illness and some of the flippant comments indicate more about the average IQ of the posters than anything about sex addiction. |

As far as I know, the psychiatric and therapeutic professions are divided on the subject.
The existence of people willing to take your money to treat a condition is not, of itself, evidence that the purported condition is real. |

Everything in the medical world is up for grabs unfortunately, but opinion is not divided, the waters are simply muddied by a few poorly controlled studies. There is always however, room for debate. |

But it is not categorised as a disorder in the DSM-V, is it? There are those who see hypersexual behaviour as symptomatic of another disorder, rather than being a separate issue. |
