Profiles that make you go OH !

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

So was having a look at updates and a profile caught my eye and I had a look at it ....

The profile text said "Misogyny is best"

I have never heard the word and Googled what it meant ...

Meaning is

Dislike of, and ingrained contempt of women. ....

I found it to be a little disturbing that someone had come onto fab with that view point. ...

I think it's the first time I've read a profile and thought wow that's abit scary. ..

The Donald rocks and to be fair there's a lot more misandrists than misogynists on this site. unfortunately a lot of the misandrists are self loathing males who just want to be adored. If anyone doubts this just check out the amount of posts bemoaning the single male vs the amount bemoaning the single female.

I haven't seen the profile but can't figure out what's scary about it. Sure all sorts of people on here with a few far worse than a guy openly stating 'misogyny is best' (most likely as a silly provocation or an overreaction) which doesn't even make sense as it's not a proper sentence.

Could well of been in jest or simply the guy doesn't actually know the meaning behind the word....

I would say alot of woman would agree with me when someone uses a word like misogyny in there profile it doesn't inspire you to want to meet that person

Because some of us are lucky enough not to have ever been subjected to it."

To quote a lady I know "if you're a woman and you're alive today you've been subjected to misogyny"

The word itself hasn't really been used in everyday discourse until fairly recently. But you don't need to know its name to know if it's happened to you.

It happens on fab on a daily basis.

Been abused by mail because you turned down a guy? Misogyny.

Misogyny doesn't necessarily apply to these men their egos have been deflated and bruised so yes they retaliate, it doesn't mean they are a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women...

There's a difference.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge you must be really smart knowing every single word and it's meaning I'm in awe at your superior intelligence "

OP is erudite and sufficiently intelligent to go and find out something she may not know. For that the sniping about her post and the attitude to her having to find out something new suggests that many of the self confessed genii on here should look to their own attitudes to others here irrespective of gender.

The mysogeny in this thread is just another example of the delight some take in putting others down to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings perhaps.

And mysogeny generally... if you hate women...why would you be here?

What about the women who see it as entitlement that men pay for everything?

What about the women who think because a man buys them dinner or asks them out they have a right to say what they do or see who they want...

There's two sides to every coin Mr.Mingo...

Everyone should be treated equally but they aren't that's life!

Like it or lump it..

We make our own choices and decisions.

Why are you assuming that a condemnation of one is an endorsement of the other?

Because that's what the link you posted suggests

Highlighting one problem doesn't mean ignorance of another.

We all do get tired of the white knight routine...

Yes men can be douche bags but so can women I think I've made my point.

"

And it's a point I totally agree with.

Are you saying I'm being a white knight because I'm drawing attention to the misogyny that is quite evident in everyday life?

Cos I'm not white knight. I'm not saying this to get the ride.

It's does come across a bit sanctimonious John but I know you are alright in general.

We all know that there are arse holes, we all know that there is bad behaviour but I think your point dilutes the potency of the word.

It means hatred of women. That is a very deep and nefarious and rare thing in the true form.

In my view it doesn't (always) equate to someone getting hostile when rejected.

I agree with that.

"I'm with doghunter on this. Chances are, it was probably put there in jest more than anything else. Most misogyny and I'd hope most misandry too on this is merely humour and not actual sentiment!

Could well of been in jest or simply the guy doesn't actually know the meaning behind the word....

I would say alot of woman would agree with me when someone uses a word like misogyny in there profile it doesn't inspire you to want to meet that person"

I agree with you on the latter, it wouldn't appeal to me either. However it's hard to say how it is meant without the context of the whole profile. It sounds to me like someone who watched too much 50 shades of grey.

"How does one make it to 40 and not know the word misogyny?

Because some of us are lucky enough not to have ever been subjected to it.

Misogyny.

"

Love this

I'm not at all trying to be sanctimonious, I suppose my point is that a bit more of (the correct form of,before you jump on me for that) feminism in men's lives wouldn't do any harm.

I do agree men should have feminism as such but I think women need to treat men respectfully too...

So I think the better to say respectful equality all round.

Replace Feminism with common sense and basic respect and dignity for all and I agree with you.

All this gender stuff is very tiring.
