Ok so I'm a guy who is a tad ok very insecure about his weight. I've been putting things in place about joining the gym and doing something about it. I've tried so many times and I just don't have the will power to do it I was wondering if anyone wanted to get involved with me. Not a gym buddy or fab buddy just like a group chat type thing to keep me motivated and eachother. Even writing this I can hear Jean Claude van damme talking about the coors light and hob nobs holy good fuck hob nobs. Help me |

Maybe try some weight loss plans out there that include weekly meetings to help you to achieve your goals... There are two that are very popular right now with easy access and not that expensive
Good luck |

Losing weight is all about the food you eat. Excercise does help but you have to do hours a day if youre seriously overeating which isnt going to happen.
Cut out soft drinks and switch to water, cut out beer and go for shorts, cut down on the snacking of sugary food. You dont have to give up everything you like you just have to cut down to 1800 calories a day.
Sugars the real danger, a mars bar is nearly 15% of your calories for the day. Thats ridiculous for the size of it.
Try an app called myfitnesspal I know a few people who've used that to great effect. |

Hi OP.
There has been quite a bit of feedback on this thread, some good, some bad. The biggest problem ordinary people have is trying to filter all the information that's out there in order to find the best bits that will help them reach their goals.
There is one way and one way only to lose fat. That is to create a calorie deficit. Each person's caloric needs are unique and individual to the person. If you were my client, In order to calculate your caloric needs and design a meal plan I would need you to fill out a questionnaire. If you think you might be interested feel free to PM me for more info.
If not, best of luck with your goal(s). The best way to achieve a goal is to write it down and look at it every day. The people who fall off the wagon most often are people who become disconnected from their goals! |

Agree with this lad. He's obviously a professional too. I'm a personal trainer and run my own business. Do seek a professionals help. Either one of us will know what programmes will best suit your needs. There is no one size fits all plan for everyone. Don't get me wrong people are giving good and some bad bits of advice. It's not their fault and I know they mean well. The problem is social media has snippets of diet plans and exercise regimes. They never show you the full picture. People then take those snippets and cut them down again and pass it on. If you need any info I'll be glad to help. |

Help me " I never wish to come across as rude or crude but the bottom line of any addiction is the fact that you really must want to kick that habit. By the wording of your post you appear articulate and most likely you have basic common sense. Eating less or if possible none of the 'wrong'things and a little bit of exercise will do wonders for you. People tend to overthink when it comes to a big change in life but it does come down to getting into better habits. Good luck with it,as soon as you get a bit of momentum you'll be flying it |

PT here aswel, great advice from these 2 posts.
Only thing i would add to this is that "cant stick to it" "keep failing" and statements like these are part of the problem.
All the advice, diets, training routines, etc. Etc. Are no good to you until you own your own shit.
No PT or any program, diet etc will work if you dont.
Not meaning to sound negative, but the only person who can achieve your goals....is you.
And
YOU CAN !!!
Good luck with it op |

Willpower or constantly reminding yourself that "I'm going to lose weight" only works for a day or two... at best. Think of what happens when you have that day from hell and there's comfort food (pizza, chocolate, etc) lying around?
Proper goal setting is key:
- A good strong visual image of how you'd like to look after 3 months of training and eating well
- Think of the possible benefits you'll have (more confidence, energy, feel sexier) whatever motivates YOU
- little bit of prep work. Good food in the fridge, training partner, regular routine, diary, Personal Trainer once a week, etc.
This approach worked for me in the past, so hopefully is of some use to you. Best of luck |

I'm with this guy ^ also handy app to use is a macro calculator which has a little search engine will tell you what you take in each day from foods. All food is good all food is bad. It's over all calories that count. |

Sensible varied diet and a reasonable amount of excercise proportionate to the calories you consume.
Cutting down on refined carbohydrate intake (sugar, white wheat flour based foods) is also helpful but generally not over indulging in any food, avoiding refined convenience food and eating what you'll "burn off" through daily activity will help immensely.
Water helps your body smoothly process food so a sensible intake of that too (too much water can cause an electrolyte imbalance).
Good luck. |

Its simple.
Eat decent food no takeaways etc. Count calories...its all about calories in v out...its not complicated
Stay away from no carb diets..u think after 3 or 4 weeks you have lost a stone ..its only water you have lost eat 2 or 3 carb meals its back again.
Whatever you eat now just take 1/3 off the plate...give it a month then reassess... |

Similar position here. About a month ago a realised how unfit I was getting. Not seriously overweight but maybe a tad. Also lack motivation.
I started an online blog and used that as motivation with some good feedback.
Regarding food, my recommendation is forget about diets. Just eat a bit less and be disciplined about it, as long as you ain't eating crap of course.
I was more concerned with exercise though so instead of wasting money again on joining the gym I just go out and run around the block trying to beat a certain time.
Get a decent skipping rope. Works wonders and is a bit of fun.
Jeep posting updates here as to what you been at, it's great motivation for yourself.
Best of luck

Don't go for fad diets, they work but you just gain it all again. Plus reducing your calories by too much isn't healthy. Make small changes and you'll get their gradually. Change dairy products to low fat alternatives and change bread, pasta and rice to wholemeal/brown. Cut out takeaways and junk. Slimming world is a great place to start and lots of men join. |

Never never land |
I lost 2 stone over lent
I just cut out bread, pasta, rice potatoes all the high carb foods and still eat the same size meals I just put more veg in, also no chocolate or pastry and drink 2 to 3 litres of water per day
I found if your weigh yourself every morning it helps keep you focused
Might not be for everyone but it worked for me |
