National No Response To A Troll Day

What if I want to cross a bridge and a troll appears from under said bridge and I have to respond to said troll in order to cross the bridge or the troll will eat my flesh and crush my bones? would this be an exception to the rule or would I just need to arrive with a bunch of guys on white chargers with their armour glistening in the sunlight to help me vanquish the troll and therefore this whole post would be totally unnecessary? |

Everyone who uses a forum regularly knows not to respond to trolls, and yet most people respond anyway. Go figure 
By the way, who decides who's trolling? I've seen people I wouldn't consider trolls be accused of trolling and others I personally think are trolls being backed up other people.
Mostly I just have a bit of a problem when forum users start telling other forum users how to use the forum. |

The manner in which you raised the topics of the gender pay gap 'feminsts are stupid, lets throws rocks at them' on International womens day followed up by ''pretty little liars' Getting incensed by an opinion article that was intended to be provocative (thats her job).
Doing your damnedest to refute her statistics and how the author was using them. Quite a few posters offered their own personal experiences of physical and emotional abuse. From what I remember you apologised not for raising the topic but how you raised it. You were still very determined to undermine the article's use of statistics. Even titling your topic 'pretty little liars' is provocative and sexist.
You then justified your actions as constructively stirring. I don't get the constructive side of throwing a grenade into a room from of people.
Between you and I, the idea that the patriarchy is the source of ills in modern society is beyond my comprehension. I just don't get that. As I said before, Gender issues are way more complex than that. Yes, there's double standards everywhere. Issues that affect men don't affect women and vice versa.
I tend to hammer things home with a sledgehammer sometimes, I do enjoy your contributions to the forums. I did find the way that you raised those topics to be misogynistic and provocative, I may well be wrong.
Here's a hypothetical for you. Lets just say the sunday world got all our details, all of us. Who would suffer the most from such a data leak? Men or Women? Would we all be judged to by the same standard? This isn't directly related to what we were talking about but relevant and pertinent I think. I'm going back under my bridge now.

Totally wrong dude, I love women and seeing that you are a man for dark humour too I'm just confused by you. My headings were what's colloquially known as a joke... Get over it. Your Olympics play was 10x more offensive than my play on the meme for teenage girls of "boys are stupid, throw rocks at them".
I stuck to debating the stats and the authors misuse of them because I'm certain they are wrong and I'm fairly sure you know they are being used with a heavy dash of poetic license too.
I can't fathom how on one hand you say on one that all that patriarchy stuff is a bag of shite that use some vagueness about gender issues being oh soooo complex??? Is that a get out off jail card to say what you really think but not twist any knickers that you might want to get into? Just have some balls and speak your mind. The truth is most women love a bit of honesty and conviction.

From what I remember by the responses, your posts was not received as a joke. If you're saying something as a joke, it has to be clearly understood as that.
As to the use of the stats, there may well have been abuse of them. I don;t have access to the studies she was referring to. That doesn't mean that I'm going to say they're false.
What I said was I don't understand this idea that the patriarchy is the problem. I said it's more complex than that. I think the issues men and women face are different so a drive for equality is perhaps the wrong way of looking at it.
Here's an example:
A couple of days ago Bold Girl made a post about feeling burnt after getting knocked back. Broadly speaking she got tea and sympathy. Even from guys, it that was a Bold Guy who made that post would the response be the same? Men just don't offer that sort of support to each other. Instead it's dry your eyes and toughen up. We're expected to be strong and stoic.
I made the point about employment for men changing. This I think has had a knock on effect on men's mental health. Men are killing themselves at shocking rates. Even the smoking ban stopped the only socialising option that many men had.
I don't understand women, I like some of them, some I don't. I judge them on an individual basis. If you think you understand them, do share, there's a lot of men waiting on you.

As to speaking my mind, I don't know when to stop. As to your hurt feelings........
The internet tends to polarise debate. Its the loud and shouty ones that get heard, those that can get the mob fired up if you know what I mean. The so called 3rd wave of feminism is polarising, its extreme. Its also unhelpful to men and women in the big picture. |
