Smart tvs

In the market for a new smart 4k tv.

Browsing online etc. And on the argos site i came across these "hisense" brand tvs.

Very high spec and low cost.

Mixed reviews on them when i googled them.

Now i know, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Just wondering if anyone has any info / knowledge / experience of this brand?

Thanks in advance

Biker

You can get a pretty good "new item replacement" warranty from Argos which I definitely would get a 'cheap' TV.

You take your chance with any item these days, we've got a Sony that has worked flawlessly for nearly 10 years while we've gone through probably 6 small brand ones in the bedrooms. I'd opt for a long guarantee and a cheaper TV than an expensive TV with a 2 year warranty.

Check Amazon, they deliver free here, older models are sometimes heavily discounted.

Ive a samsung one thats 6 years old and its been excellent.

Be careful with the smart tv's though, it came out on the news this week that any of the ones with voice control are recording your conversations and sending the data to the NSA

There was definitely a TV thing. I have a suspicion I heard it was Samsung TVs in particular but I'm not sure.

It was on the This Morning programme last week. They said newer tvs with built in cameras and voice activation can be hacked through the tvs computer, where hackers can see you in your home and listen to conversations. They recommended to change the passwords on the tv and put tape over the camera and voice activator when not in use.

Id rather not buy if that was the case. Ive a samsung thats 5 years old and its brilliant.
