A hotel room with a nice big bubble bath bottle of bubbly chocolates and it's usually the company that is the romance...
You don't need expensive plush surroundings for romance...

I quite like the Abbyglen Castle in Clifden, some of the rooms have four poster beds and double bath jacuzzi. Staff is super friendly and the welcome Prosecco is poured very generously. The stunning surroundings are wild and beautiful. |

"Glencar lake & waterfall in Leitrim.
...or indeed anywhere in Leitrim! Sigh... "
...The high hills of Breffni, I’ll show you around
Where the call of the woodcock and wild duck surround
Where the thrush and the blackbird are singing so gay
Round the historic well of Tobar Beo Aoidh
For beauty and scenery, there’s none can compare
With the pleasant surroundings of sweet Dromahaire
Where O’Rourke’s ancient castle is safe from decay
And there’s lovely Glencar just a few miles away...

Very close to it is what's left of Kilronan Abbey with the grave of Turlough O'Carolan so even though it's in Satan's county, it's still worth a visit. |

Ah, waking up, opening the veranda doors on a sunny, Neapolitan morning & breathing in sulphur! Did you mention there's a huge active volcano on either side of the city?
But OMG it's beautiful. Italià. |

I'm with the Abbey Glen people. That place is unreal. Over looks the town of Clifden, but yet within walking distance if the town.
It just brings you to a whole new world while to stay.

If youre relying primarily on external things then it all depends upon both your tastes so there's so many places in Ireland.....If however it's internal then the most unlikeliest of places can be very very romantic.
My strongest memory was an unexpected meet with someone I'd been chatting to and planned to meet. We took it a step further than typical coffee/ dinner chat etc. We went camping West coast of Donegal. ... the weekend was spent shooting star gazing on the beach with a campfire beach walks and skinnt dipping under moonlight and hundreds of photos to remember amongst other things.....both into photography. It was the start of a beautiful thing.
So it all depends... |
