Rte news today
Young Irish women in London earn 18% than young Irish men in London.
Clear as day evidence that it's all situation dependent, the devil is in the detail (like with anything!) and that the gender pay gap (crap?) is the one the best and most pervasive examples of lying with statistics ever (at least in our part of the world) |

"Feminism is total bollix..it's got nothing to do with the empowerment of women but everything to do with putting men down.. "
Feminism was great, I support it fully in principle... but not so much in practice.
Things have just got weird lately |

Feminism is a stick used to beat men with but only when it suits women..in life or death situations women will all to readily play upon the poor little defenceless woman truck to save herself..take a sinking ship for example..Feminism states than men and women are equal..so what should happen with the lifeboats..in the good old times women would get preference for a space on a lifeboat over men but not anymore..there's equality for you |

Apparently 99% of people who post such topics in forums think numbers are capable of holding a position. But stats be lying
Women are equal so f it I'll never be a gent again, you want same money, I won't hold a door open... You're painting a dark picture of yourself. it's not women are equal, it's women deserve the same pay and opportunities. Saying you'd kick them off life boats is a total non sequitur |

I'm poking fun at lying with stats and showing that we all have the same opportunities depending how we play our cards
That's the rub. Women are great. Women are already equal.
Feminism is terribly patronising to women...as most of my most bad ass and successful female friends agree

I can point you to gay men who were against gay marriage. Does their identify make their opinion hold more weight or stand it up to argument better now. I can get you people saying the same thing before women could vote if we grow up and are socialised in sexist world, we can only make it better by being aware, not denying it.
Do you deny female politicians are treated differently, a women who raises there voice is shrill a man is assertive. Their clothes look all spoken about. You don't see this.
Kids being raised different based on gender the toys their given. The entire school of thought sociologically and anthropologically. All shit.
You look at the wage gap and think that's just cause men are better negotiators, but you don't stop to think it's men making the deals with other men for the most part, no. It couldn't be more complex. No confirmation bias there.
You reckon it'd be up for public debate about our bodies if men got pregnant?
You don't look at religious text that underpins entire societies today and think, women are poorly represented.
You don't see that sexually in society women are treated differently.
You think it's all dandy. Good for you. Also it depends what school of feminism we are speaking of, there are many that are repugnant. But if we simply boil it down to equality. The facts would suggest we've a way to go.
You've got a lot of gymnastics and heavy lifting to do to get to your viewpoint. |

Ha ha you lost me at the religious doctrine. It's 2017 not many lives are still underpinned by that.
I think you are typecasting my opinions.
What about the women who are politicians and do get heard, or the ones who run successful businesses or get noble prizes or so on so forth.
You just listed some examples of sexism which of course exist to a degree and there are plenty of equal and opposite examples of sexism against men.
My first post refutes or at least casts doubt (in the spirit of scientific reasoning) on the "wagegap" and yet you weave it into your hackneyed argument.
I like poking fun at Feminism because I think we should get on with life in unison instead of creating a fight between the sexes over essentially nothing.

I think you thought I was talking about negotiation when I said about playing your cards. I meant the whole lot... Education, ambition, hard work plus charm and social skills which girls have way more of naturally than boys...
Not cutting a sweet deal in the old boys club.
Anyway let's bring out your facts to see if they withstand heavy lifting. |

Feminism shouldn't be about the belittling of men but the empowerment of women. It's about understanding how we in our own right are strong, capable, productive and totally freaking awesome. It's embracing or softness and displaying how powerful we are with it |

Why do you take feminism as an attack on men it isn't. It's about creating equal opps for all genders. You skipped many of my points. The fact genders raised differently, r culture, patriarchy. You talk of women in jobs. Look at the numbers ratio, the ones you use as example are exceptions to rule, not the rule, look at numbers on wage gap, look at the research done on house work with both working, look at the research into sexual attacks, the support received, the body autonomy of women, the work they weren't let do. Lot of women only aloud vote past few decades. To say we've hit equality with women and the struggle is over. What's your evidence for that? Any respected research inform your opinion at all. Or did you make it up on your own little subjective experiences as a man. Cause well done there free thinker extraordinaire.
To say men receive sexism, is true but then what are you saying, there is still sexism against women too?? Yes men we get sexism but it's not holding us back we are still the tops by some distance sort of like saying white people experience racism, we do but to a level that's inconsequential, it also trivialises others real struggle and makes the person saying it, look totally devoid of compassion and understanding like a trump.
Are you against racial inequality too. That's just a stick to beat white people. Cause that's how you sound. The ignorance is alarming |

This is exactly my point. These things are not facts they are hokey pseudo social science at best (and that's an overuse of the word science). These "facts" were developed, propagated and misused time and time again by highly biased people to push their agenda. It's like believing everything you read on the Internet or the tabloids.
There is little credible evidence of women in the western world being at a significant disadvantage to men. There's plenty of easily discredited and unfortunately easily believed statistical lies which you seem to have fallen for.
Just on the first point, are you now going to try argue that men and women are psychologically the same and it's just socialisation and the toys they are given that makes men and women wonderfully different?
But but but the patriarchy = tumblr feminist sillines |

Where is your evidence there put up or shut up. You say I'm misinformed all evidence I'm reading is wrong. Can you point me to a well respected socialist who agrees with your view. Can you point me to a study that backs you. Not a YouTube video. Not a news article. Peer reviewed study that says no sexism exists or a tiny amount whichever. So go find that or shutty. I'm doing current research into sexism in music and it's there in abundance. Even in Hollywood check out actors wage gaps. Significant.
I love and respect women cause there's no gaps they are treated the same. You sound so smart and loving I take it back. Lol you sound like trump now.
I love women. Women are fantastic. I just said they have no reason to whine cause we live in a society that treats them equal. Cloud cuckoo land man. |

I would say that there are struggles for all... Both men and women, both roughly equal.
You would do well to listen to the points of esteemed feminist, Christine Hoffman (I think) who adds some sense to the madness.
You've shown your biases. Are you studying social science? |

Rape stats from Africa vs here
Legislation to protect against the various ills you have spoken about
The evidence to the contrary about the supposed pay gap you failed to acknowledge in my first post?

Surely to show issue you'd have to compare rpes by gender here. Comparing to Africa, a whole continent is a false equivalency. Like saying there no homophobia here, ok well then let's see what laws are there protecting gays in Pakistan. Yea there's more here. What's the point. There's more attacks there, so therefore there's no problem here. It's worse there so grand here. Rock solid logic at work there.
Also it seems like you may be aware of the plethora of studies disagreeing with you. Can you produce abything of weight that backs you any research at all.
If there's none, the conversation is over. |

So would you be for or against "positive discrimination" and gender quotas regardless of whether the best person for the job got it or not? If the best person is a straight white able bodied male age 40 - 69 would you rather the job went to a gay coloured disabled female just to fill a quota?
if the 2nd person is the better fit for the job then by all means give it to them. |

I thought who ever wrote that was a bit insensitive in the closing statement that women lack confidence. Total bullshit, they lack the worst elements of type A personalities (generally speaking).
It's more they are nicer and lack the steamroll your colleagues in the pursuit of power mentality (in general) . |
