Many land lines are set on private . I know of a few myself that call on private home phone numbers. It was all the rage back in the day to do it.
Not all calls are from mobile phones where you can turn on and of the ID at will. Can hardly phone up your service provider late at night and tell them that you have an important call to make and would they mind turning on you ID |

I would be more likely to answer a private number at night than during the day during the day the chances of being someone looking for money or to sell you something is very high during the day!

I have a 'fuck phone' so probably wouldn't bother even looking at it if it rang as mostly texts I receive on it. If it was my own phone, if I woke up of course, I might answer it. |

It is a bit yes and I'm careful who I give my number to so can't think who it could be , think I'll answer it if it happens again to see do they say anything . I normally wouldn't but guess I'm courious now , the iPhone is handy for blocking numbers but can't block ID withheld ones |

My phone is android so there are quite a few available. I've just seen one called CallerId and Block, it's not the one I've used before, but it claims to be able to tell you who's calling, even if they withhold their number. Not sure what's available for an iPhone if that's what you have. |

If they're nuisance calls, they're most likely not stopped. Keep your call log for as long as the calls keep coming. In my experience, which spanned 14 months, the frequency escalates as time goes by. Hopefully that won't happen to you, but if you keep the log you've got information you can take to the guards. Best of luck. |

Had 3 calls from a 'unknown number ' roughly an hr separating them last one was around 8.30pm yesterday and each time a voicemail was left which lasted only 1or 2 seconds with exact same kinda muffled talkin sound !!

Being able to hang up is no comfort if you're woken from your sleep in the middle of the night. And who's to say it would only happen once? I've had three or four calls in the space of a few minutes in the middle of the night. It's not nice. |
