They a great phone but it totally depends on your network. I moved from voda to 3 and its been crap. The phone needs great data coverage or it cant do half the stuff it wants too and 3 just dont have anything like the 4g coverage that voda have. It will eat its battery looking for a data signal if the coverage is poor.
The biggest problem with the edge is getting a case to protect it in case you drop it. |

I am on 3.
Unlimited data. Have WiFi at home. Love the phone. Was an iPhone nerd for years. Love the Samsung more. Still have some apples but the Samsung edge is amazing. |

"24x€55= €1320+199=€1519 wouldn't be for me now...would you pay 700 for a Samsung or iPhone?"
Doesn't appear to be much of a deal from the figures. Maybe if you use the EU roaming a lot and it covers data as well as voice it might be worth it. If I was spending that kind of money I'd just get an iPhone |

"But look what it works out for the year" i put 30 a month in my phone at mo. sometimes more if data runs out. 30 x 12 = 360 plus price of phone which I think was 690 = 1,050. That's for one year. all these high tech Samsungs and iPhones are collosal when totted up

Nope. Although when Stirling tanked Mr got a 7+ for €719...The last good deal I saw was a Sony Xperia X for £250 new/sim free. |

Ask Samsung, they need to recoup their marketing budget from somewhere right?
Check phone testing sites and benchmarks, the scores will tell you what I am saying is right.
But, by all means, if you want to stick to Samsung, please do... |

Brand.
the oneplus will do pretty much anything the samsung will with the same overall spec for less money.
I've the oneplus one for ages and it's still going strong. that's S5 level spec for half the price.
I'm just coming off my contract, and i think anyone going on a fresh contract is mad, especially if they shop smart and buy one of the lesser well known brands with similar spec, unlocked and just jump networks when a better deal comes along.

"Whats the best phone for highest internal memory anyone? "
Some phones have 256gb native, think Asus zenfone 3 deluxe, apple iPhone (yuck!) 7, and some others, but with the advent of sdhc memory card slots in a lot of new phones its really not all that important anymore I think. |

Personally I wouldn't touch apple iPhone if my life depended on it, early adopter of android (since 2008)
For me their closed off OS makes me feel claustrophobic. Aside from them being hopelessly overpriced that is.... |

Oneplus3 is usually buy direct then get a sim contract... but i think 02 do it on contract now. Spec is not wildly different to Samsung but it's about half the price.
Still using an S6 on 4g in the north ...works fine.
Upgrades on phones are becoming more marginal in terms of tech eg extra storage ....why? get a clould service... more pixels? ... but the camera lenses are still not great etc
More useful to have unlimited data if available... the change in processor speeds is limited by the network you are on and the speed you can type!
And cameras... yeah a phone will take pics... but if you want better images go buy an SLR.

From what I read online..and problems with my own phone if the internal memory is low an sd card will be off no use. It may allow you a few extra apps but nothing like how high they state. |

just did a quick comparison between the oneplus 3T and the S7 edge. the 3T is on par with the S7 for most things and in other areas outperforms it.
so at just over 400 quid its a bit of a bargain. that's about the limit for what id fork out for a new phone anyway.
Though, i must admit the iphone 4s was the best iphone ever made. and i like the current SE too. but waaaay overpriced. |

Depends on how much internalemory the phone has, but a minimum of 32 GB is needed for a decent amount of apps people on average are running nowadays. What eats memory for breakfast nowadays is all them dirty pictures and videos we all have on them....
That's where the extra memory (SD and/or internal) comes in handy... |

"Haven't owned one but have heard good reports on the Wileyfox, top model is only around €220...but check with Madcat."
Decent low priced mid specced phone, will actually do well for a lot of people that wouldn't actually really benefit from flagships.
Came out well in tests compared to others in its price class. |

Most new phones already support microsd cards up to 256gb. Sadly most phones sold here in store are older generations. If you have specific models in mind, best check the model on gsmarena or phonearena for specs. |

DO NOT buy a new phone right now!
Mobile World Congress happens end of Feb in Barcelona and majority of new models are launching there. Samsung will launch S8 there or separate event by end of March with S8 expected in shops April/May. S7 can be had for £500 on certain sites now with Edge version about £50 more. This will drop by likely 100 once S8 comes out. Then get an iD or Tesco SIM only contract for €30 or less which comes with unlimited/15GB+ data and 5000/unlimited texts/mins. Work that out and it's way cheaper than any 24mth contract. Do get insurance, unless you can check if your home contents insurance covers the S7 already.
Madcat is correct in all he says too and OnePlus highly rated phones but, personally, if I had the money, I'd go Samsung as they've never let me down. Still have an S4 along with Motorola X Play and the S4 is two years older but has almost everything as good, other than battery life. Not bad for a 2013 phone! |
