Hi all
Just a quick question...
On some profiles I notice some people have put up Legal Notices or warnings to other people not to copy their content or pics. Is this paranoia or something that should be on all profiles? |

"It at least tells people you want and intend your pics to remain private. God knows you have to spell things out to certain folk."
If you want and intend your pics to stay private, don't post them on the Internet. |

No those notices mean nothing and have literally no legal effect. You just look dim for putting it up. The terms and conditions you agreed to by joining the site are the only words that are legally binding.
Although I know a few people use those notices as idiot filters so they do have some use |

That is only half the truth. Statement about any researching universities are pointless indeed, however statements towards your ownership of pics displayed or text of your own in the profile are subject to copyright laws . In case that someone uses your pictures for whatever purpose it is clear an infringement of your copyrights . The question is will you have the guts to make a legal claim if someone posts an image of your ding dong pretending it is his |

When you signed up to the site you agreed that they had the right to modify, publish and copy any content including pictures.
Copyright is also assumed to be in place, you dont have to state that theres a copyright or include a copyright symbol or register it anywhere. So the copyright statements are indeed pointless. |
