I'd say it's hard to make a gew quid at it unless you're covering a good route like a large town or highly built up area, the rate per delivery is fairly small so you don't want to be traveling long distances between drops ,
As a new driver starting within a depot I don't think that you're going to get the best areas to cover as they are already taken by the longer established drivers!

It's strange you say that but I have often passed those vans as late as 10 at night. Hardly still working."
We receiving packages from courier daily normally latest delivery is five except in the run up to christmass when we often get extra delivery service from the same company but by a second driver on the run.
These guys not only deliver but collect and those collections have get back to the depot in time for the truck to transfer them to other cities so I'd say they finish early enough |

Assuming you work a 12 hr day...
Without a break....
500 deliveries is about 1 every minute and a half...
It's not a van, but a Ferrari you'd need...lol
There must be easier ways to make a living ...but on the other hand it's 5000 per week...less diesel, tax, insurance and ware and tear...you'd soon have enough for a Ferrari

They move the parcels through the night. When they go back to the depot, scan parcels off the van, and sort all the incoming ones for distribution. Long Days. |

I think the moral of the story here is to get paid by the hour
At least a truck driver can only legally drive a certain amount of hours in a day before having to take a minimum number of rest hours, the van drivers can just drive around the clock if they want to or are forced to! ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |
