You need to go to a garage so they can do a diagnostic on it

Hi gooch

It could be a few things but I'd say possibly injector playing up as it's a common fault on diesels but probably best to go to a garage are auto spark and get them to plug it into diagnostics for a answer.

Good luck with it and let us know what the outcome is.

Jetaway

Could be a variety of things..before you go to a garage to get fault codes read put some diptene or stp diesel treatment into a full tank and run it near empty..it might just be dirty injectors..to me it sounds like an egr problem..plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you..whip it off and give it a good clean with carb cleaner and tooth brush..it should open and close freely without hesitiation..Oh and to let you know the 1.6 tdci is a Peugeot engine..good luck

To my knowledge any decent mechanic would read a fault code for free and then gives you a quote, no obligation. If he has to diagnose a more difficult problem that's of course a different story. Don't understand why people don't just go for it rather than taking in wild speculations on an Internet forum .

That's half an hour of a mechanics time, you'd expect to get it for free?

the dfb is gone on it id guess, its a filter for diesel engines, can be cleaned or replaced at around 100,000 miles, depending on what type of driving u do city/long distance. ur talking up to 1000 euro for a replacement but the can often be cleaned for less

Maybe I'm just lucky with my one but he wouldn't charge me for a 10 minutes fault code reading, proper diagnostic different story and no problem paying for it.

my place

The problem is most likely the Peugeot engine under the bonnet, just bring it to a garage, modern diesels are a pain in the hole to fix. could be as simple as a vacuum leak to injector pressure drop off numerous things

Most places charge for plugging a car in especially dealerships. Independent garages might do it for free in hope of getting the work.

It needs to be checked as it could be one of many things and hopefully something simple to fix

Bring it do the garage or else you will have to recondition the clock and your be better of getting new car then if don't get anything do now but usually after the 04 models there dose be problems with ford focus but it just might need a service could be a computer issues

Absolutely no one can tell you why ecu or epc or check engine light comes on without a fault code. It could be anything from a damp connector to a dying engine

Thinks probably the egr valve full of muck

If it drives like the turbo is not working and the revs stay low then its probably that.

They fill up over time and need a good clean but are usually a pain in the ass to get at, but with time and patience and a few tools and youtube you can fix it yourself.

I have done a few of them now for people.

maf sensors or throttle body's don't give concerns on 1.6 Tdci engines , the odd t/body on petrol 1.6 focus, that's it.

The problem with the egine is the thingy ma jig in the what do you call is fucked. Cheap and easy fix, just go to the shop that sells bits for cars and ask for a thingy ma jig. There about 5euro to buy , don't pay any more than 7euro cause them bastards in the shop that sells bits for cars will fleece you if they get the chance. Fuckers. You will also need a glass hammer to fit it and a bucket of steam to clean it after. Problem sorted

Hey Gooch. I have all the diagnostic gear for plugging into the vehicle. It could be one of many problems. Only way for sure is pull the fault and the fault code which is the most important. Once you have the code from the car you can deal with it appropriately then. If ya need a dig out give us a shout yeah

I'd bet it has something to do with the erg sensor. Faulty or maybe a vacuum pipe loose or damaged. Common fault on the focus

Just seen that you got it fixed there. But a bottle of dipitane, costs about 12euro, but it will work wonders for your fuel system and clean all the crap out of your engine. You just add it to the fuel, works on petrol/diesel and even on home heating oil burners on a 60 litre tank you will get 3 fills from a bottle

Theres never an easy fix; no mechanic will ever know just from symptoms, diagnostic test always required.

At a guess, its your DPF or EGR valve, neither are particular cheap unfortunately.
