I only use chrome and haven't seen the issue you've described but I'm on android. Like the other user suggested could it be an issue with chrome on IOS.

I had something like this earlier, like a new update or it opened a new tab I'm not sure, it was on chrome anyway.

Chrome on Android, no issues. However I use Adblock browser as a safer option, no tracking and no pop up tabs either. Just saying

It's a new, annoying feature, that allows you to press on a word and it'll define it in the little pop up box. If you want to turn it off just click on the box and say fuck off (no thanks)
