Hey guys
I'm on 1 list for an up coming social and on the reserve list for another.
Can some one tell me what happens at a social. I have an idea but I'm not sure
Don't want to look like a fool on the night
Thanks |

I've been to a few over the years and I still get nervous going to them.
It's a bit like a scene from an old wild west movie. You walk into a bar full of strangers, the music stops and all the heads turn and stare at you as you make your way to the bar. Then the host or hostess approaches you (if you're lucky, it could be ages before they realise you are there). A deathly silence falls over as they approach, this is the make or break moment. Will they smile and shake your hand or just look you up and down and then walk away.....
Or maybe that was just me cos I tripped over the steps to the dancefloor on the way to the bar.... |

Well 1 person was stunned by me, but only because I nearly head butted him as I flailed about like a baby giraffe trying not to fall.... |

I'd reckon I'm well forgotten by now, haven't been back there in 3 years...
Anyhow, not to hijack the thread from OP.
You'll be grand, there'll be lots of people there in the same boat. A few will know each other & be chatting away. You'll find you're feet soon enough. Rather than trying to drag a friend along, why not find out who else is going (male or female) & maybe meet them an hour or so beforehand and at least you won't feel so consicpuous walking in. |
