Wiping a phone that won't turn on...

"Anyone know if it's possible to wipe a Samsung phone if you can't power it on?? Asking for a friend... "
If you mean destroy the memory and make it unrecoverable then what professionals will do is drill through the memory so it cant be used. |

If you have a Samsung account, you can sign in on a computer and wipe it, I believe. Not sure if it works when the phone won't power on though.
Or, if not a waterproof model, drop it in water. That should kill it. Otherwise a hammer/drill would be good.
I'm presuming that you already tried replacement of battery and charger to make sure that the phone is at fault? |

That's it exactly! Between my search history (it's my fab/porn phone!) and some recent photos I took, I'd like to be sure no one could snoop through them if I sent it off to be repaired |

Put the phone in a microwave for 30 seconds, it'll fuse the memory !!"
No microwave here, unfortunately! Slightly terrified of zapping it though! |

Honestly there isn't. And there's stuff u can do with phones after they are wiped to get the pics that were on it. I've seen it done. I'd never send a phone to be repaired. Cheap phone for your naughty side. Good phone for everything else. I'll burn this phone to a crisp when it's done |

Ok, then you may be able to reset it. Let me know model number and I'll find out for you. |

Thanks all! I managed to do a factory reset (after trying the cache partition wipe first) both seemed successful until it came to rebooting and my dear friend just dies when trying to come back to life... Sometimes getting stuck in a reboot loop or just vibrating ever couple of seconds |

I prefer my vibrating electronics to be bought for a specific purpose only... My back massager does a great job already... Don't need my phone muscling in on that territory |

Do NOT do this!!!! Microwaves aren't magic phone repair centres. It might wipe the memory but it will do it by causing a short circuit and and will cause fire and damage to the phone, microwave and maybe your kitchen. I can't believe someone would even contemplate it. Be safe! Lecture over!!!!!!!! |

You're right, Samsung just couldn't perfect their onboard microwave technology... |
