Hi Folks,
Out of curiosity, what do people classify as an 'Athletic' figure on a man or woman?
From some profiles we've seen and people contacting us, it seems to be a description used for all shapes and sizes!

I take it you're not talking bout, Professional and amateur sports people..
For me it's having a sturdy and well proportioned body. Can walk or run a few miles without running short of breath.. |

Fab categorizes it as 'body type' which is arguably something completely different to 'figure', in my opinion at least.
I'm not toned, I don't have a six pack or thighs as big as tree trunks but in terms of the intangibles, my general stamina and energy, I'd back my body to keep up with any chiseled adonis
Certainly on Fab it's one of the most subjective of personal perceptions so you'll see different shapes and sizes falling into the same category; especially when it's such a limited set of options.
Nobody knows your own body better than you, certainly more than a check box with such limited options on the internet and as it's subjective, it works both ways. If your opinion of a body type doesn't square up with anothers then move on. |

i have athletic on mine as i train regularly and have a reasonable level of fitness and thankfully can keep my weight under control.
I figured it was the best fit for me but of course others probably wont agree.
But hey thats peoples choice. I only have it there as i have to have it there. I'm not a fan of labels as some will know.

"Yeah. But as a body type there's also Curvy, ample and large as an option.
Anyway, all body types are good when part of a proper personality."
What would you class your own body and your partners as? |

I wasn't sure whether to go for athletic or slim incase slim seemed stick-thin, but then most of the profiles I seen with Athletic were quite bulky and toned so I went for slim.
I think people will judge by the pictures though, that cuts out any interpretations |

"Athletic is not a body type in my book.
I go with that! "
Why not?
Jessica Ennis for example by definition has an athletes body and therefore an athletic body
Its not always the most attractive body type but to say it's not a body type doesn't make any sense surely? |

Anything from a sprinter up to a sumo ringer you could call athletic |

Yeah but that's just using extremes to try break the idea

Yes it's extremes that's why everyone fits into it |

There's an athletic body and then there's an athlete's body... Katie Taylor or Floyd Mayweather all have pure athlete's bodies through hard work...
However, an athletic bod is usually lean or ripped with a little muscle. Course a yoga body can also be very nice too ... |

But by way of example you wouldn't call an extremely effeminate man 'manly' when describing him even though he is in fact a man. If you did the word would lose its power to describe the archetype. A descriptive word tends to have a connection to the commonly held meaning. |

An athletic body to me is low body fat percentage toned defined muscle. Someone who trains in low weight workouts and endurance sports fitness. An athletes body on the other hand can be any shape. Powerlifters have huge bulk but wouldn't have athletic bodies.
When my clients are after an athletic body they've more than likely already have a rigid fitness regime and are looking for extra tone and definition.
If you have one you've worked hard for it so well done |

Theres a difference between an athlete and looking athletic.
Sumo wrestlers may be athletes but not look athletic.
