Hi folks
Wanting to gague the interest in setting up a photography club / group whose purpose is to co-rent studio space that we can use for shoots as well as meeting up and sharing props / kit / ideas.
The basic idea would be to find four or five couples interested in organising and using the space.
If there is any interest we can take it forward finding something suitable at a location that works for all.
Probably more aimed at the East Coast / Midlands folk but if youre interested then get in touch.

Having a permeant space would allow props and lighting / backgrounds to be stored and shared (if owners consented) the biggest pain with photography is always prop and equipment storage, lighting and privacy.
Plus the space would be free to use for group meets and socials or more.
There are photography studios available to rent by the hour but they are stupid money and not as flexible for sets / props. Not too many private studios would be happy with erotica taking up 'the night shift' as they would see 'sex people' as bad for their core business of family portraits etc. Which is fair enough. |

"Must be a underused studio somewhere to rent by the hour... or out of normal working hours?"
There's at least 5 studios in Dublin that you can rent by the hour, and probably more I wouldn't even know about. Most would let you do it in the evening or weekend as well. |

Most of the studios already offer boudoir or lingerie shots and probably won't care much if they get extra rent.
But im intrigued now... most will have lighting rigs in place...just what else training equipment? do you need apart from costumes? |

I missed this first time around.
Not sure how many photographers would be happy having the place used for socials/meets. Unless the equipment was very securely locked away at all times.
Most photography studios have no problem with erotic stuff. Full sex stuff is probably different, then again not sure how photographers here would want the studio you propose used for full on sex stuff either. That brings into question other issues.
Probably better off just renting out a good hotel room for the day. |

Sounds exactly like either the unit or MARS both of which can be rented by the hour for the type of photography you are talking about have good sets and props and do not mind more intimate shoots |

Also most studios will jump at the chance of a booking as of it isn't in use it isn't earning .verygood studio close to us £120 for four hours multiple high quality sets and lighting equipment split four ways it's £30 bargain for an afternoons shooting |

"Look can people refrain from telling us what we want? Its incredibly rude.
The post is clear what its asking and is not asking for 'you don't want to do that, what you want to do is....'"
You're right. Best of luck, I'm sure it will be a great success. |
