He's a gobshyte. There's nothing to like about him. Sure he has incredible fighting skill and is making a lot of money. It's admirable i guess but that doesn't make him likeable in my eyes. The guys an idiot. If go out tomorrow and try act like mcgregor in every day life. I'll be hated with no friends before the weekend lol Fact |

So reason for hating him is his persona how he promotes himself... then you have answered your own question why do people love him because they like his fighting skills has worked hard at it and yeah he be cocky arrogant but wasnt Ali when he was top of his game or Prince Nassem Hamed, Mayweather etc... These people know what it takes to make money and this guy has found his time... he has worked hard to get to where he is and now doesnt need to fight no more as he says... He is rich baby get the red panties on...So most people hate him for his arrogance and persona outside the octagon others like the persona but most like the fact he was a simple Irish lad now on top of his game through hard hard work and is irish thru and thru |

"I dislike him because i think he is full of it thats just my opinion ."
Totally understand that but that has been said about many sportsman people see it as arrogance cockiness but these types of sportsman have been able to back it up with having the talent.
So the people that hate someone is generally due to persona
people that love someone is either liking persona.but mostly admire the natural talent and hard work they did to get to the top |

I don't think it's put on. The camera brings it out but it's not put on. It's who he is. If it was that easy to just put it on they'd all be at it |

The difference is when Ali did it, it was classy and intelligent.
Hamed was an act backed up by picking duff fighters to box.
McGregor comes across as a lowlife with no class, standards or intelligence. So while I rate his achievements and am happy to see an Irish boy do well, I simultaneously cringe when he opens his mouth and shames the nation with gutter talk. Can't bring to mind any other Irish sports person who did that.
There's nothing against winning with class and magnanimity and he does not do that. |

Again i understand but i am just answering the OP question why do people love him.. its either they like the persona or they as you do as well see the achievements he has done by hard work amd determination... its like every sport Golf Tiger , Soccer Ronaldo , Tennis McEnroe , Boxing Mayweather... people hate there persona but none hate there talent |

A coupe I know have a teenage son who was very ill. He's a huge mma fan and Conor, on more than one occasion, has been unbelievably kind to this lad. He went above and beyond to make sure this lads dream came true. Can't imagine many lowlife's would do that. |

"Hes a cool dude and always delivers "
No always
He's a good striker. Not fit to tie his own bjj belt tho. Should have left john kavanagh when signed to ufc and went to top us team
Great striker tho. He'll beat Alvarez but would lose to bigger lightweights like barbosa and tony ferguson IMO |

I do t have an opinion on him either way but I would have assumed the bravado was just for show to help hype up the matches or fights or what ever they are called. I've seen some stuff he's done on FB for fans and if he was that arrogant he wouldn't care or show heart so surely he can't be a bad person. He's paid to portray that persona |

Why do people compare this guy to Ali.He is ok at what he does in a small sport.
Ali was so much more than a world class boxer.
If the lad helps kids i say fair play to him and well done but please,he aint no Ali. |

You dont have to meet him in person to dislike him. He has a big mouth which lots of people find irritating and cringeworthy.
I find it hard to like any sportsperson who talks in the manner he does, whether its an act or not. The apparent lack of humility and respect for other opponents, it grates on me |

Well fooking said, "heroes and villains" puts bums on seats and this not only works in panto but also in sports too You either watch to see if he can back up his words or if he'll finally get his arse handed to him. Either way you still tune in!! The guy trains like crazy then risks his life getting into the Octagon so if he can make $10 million as a mouthpiece instead of $100k as just another bland personality, why not? |

The book was one of the better one's written but Bret used to have paintings of himself posted all over his home so enough said there... The most legitimate tough guy in wrestling was apparently Haku. They say he would have had a field day in the UFC |

It's all part of the show. He promotes himself and the sport to a level never expected 10 years ago. He knows the more people that want to see him get beaten, the more people will pay to watch him. It's business. The Kardashians had to sell their souls for it, Mc Gregor just uses his talents.
I have no interest in UFC at all but I have to admit I like Mc Gregor. Yeah it's over the top, but it's entertaining and he can back it up. And I had huge respect for him again when he sough a greater challenge by going up 2 weigh classes. Whether you think it was foolish or not, it showed the true nature of the man. Balls!!! |

If i came on here daily with the same arrogance and attitude as mcgregor has id be slated and not liked by any of you so stop talking shit and admit the guy is a knob
Fair play to him. He's admirable in some ways etc But as a person he's a fool and if you can't see that then you must have similar traits urself thus the need to defend such a moron.
Alvarez hasn't a chance against him and its painful knowing mcgregor will win and his head will continue to grow |

I love what he done for the sport and so does most of the fighter's without him they wouldn't be getting paid more for the numbers they pull in for there fights
and he worked hard to get where he is today granted he talks alot but most of the time he backs it up
outside the ufc he has bein a gentleman to anyone that has approached him for a pic or a story. some people may hate him but I generally think that's the jealousy in them. but that's my opinion about the man |

The prob is he's being judged by mainstream ppl who aren't used to combat sports. Mma is a niche sport. Mcgregor is playing the part of a "heel",the arrogant cocky guy ppl either love or hate. Like Ali,mayweather and lots of wrestlers. And he plays it well. It catapulted him to the top of the bill. Its not that it's fake, you can't fake that bravado, just an exaggeration of a part of their personalities |

He has brought ufc to where it is now, before it wasnt as popular, hes a funny guy, hes cocky and brings a bit more excitement to the sport unlike most of the other bores, hes from here aswell and even in america they support him rather than there own fighters. Because there's a time and place for that attitude and it's for promoting himself in UFC. You think he behaves like that 24/7?
He has more sense than to be cocky and arrogant away from the media and spotlight.
If you acted like he does when he's in front of the camera when you're out buying a pint of milk then you'd be a bigger idiot than you claim he is. |

I blame him for making it popular. It should be a niche sport and not mainstream. Next thing a fighter will die, like cyborg santos almost did cpl of weeks ago and because so in public eye now it will force big rule changes. |

He is a fighter and has a fighters personality,it was the same with muhammad ali and believe it or not what ali said was quite disgusting and very racist at times yet people glossed over it,would McGregor be getting millions for each fight if he were quiet in the pressers? no he would not he has become the guy everyone wants to take down and as such he became the lottery fighter. He is not the same person in his daily life but people who do not understand the fight game will not understand that. |
