Folk here often say try getting active on the forums in order to get friendly with people and get the odd invite to party or a meet.....but lately it's just a piss take or a place to attack others, I really wonder what people use fab for.
I know we like a laugh but if every God damn post has to mention that other non sensical post (you all know the one) then I think the forum is losing its intended use! |

I tend to agree. Too many idiots here shown off. I'd love to see the site introduce a news feed where all status updates are together and can be commented on etc it would be great craic |

Well, harsher forum bans for a start. More people aware of whats happening so they know what to look out for.
Maybe if we started an information thread to educate people on forum etiquette..? |

Agree. What you mentioned plus the repetitiveness of some posts. Some don't know a topic has been covered to death and that's fair enough (been guilty of that myself).
Forum could do with a pinned post or popular post feature. They stay near the top and people can read them or add to them instead of posting the topic again.
The in-fighting, in jokes are a bore though.

We discuss serious topics for a while until someone says it's getting way too serious here and this is meant to be all about having fun so gradually we become more and more light hearted until we hit the dizzy heights we hit over the last few days. Then we reach breaking point and the cries go out for more meaty topics, which become the norm until someone says it's getting too serious around here again. I don't think they'd a right or a wrong way to do it. I haven't seen too many serious topics having the piss taken out of them recently. If you post it, they will discuss. I suspect that rather than try imposing rules to try and make people post serious responses, post up some serious threads to challenge people's minds. Maybe I'm completely wrong but that's my opinion. |

I agree. Sure there's always somebody not happy in every walk of life.
The bit of banter the past few days upset a few people because they seen a few they didn't like having a bit of fun and decided it wasn't funny because they themselves weren't part of it. And their too stubborn to just join in and have a laugh about it. |

"The forum is a bit like the economy in that it goes through cycles. We discuss serious topics for a while until someone says it's getting way too serious here and this is meant to be all about having fun so gradually we become more and more light hearted until we hit the dizzy heights we hit over the last few days. Then we reach breaking point and the cries go out for more meaty topics, which become the norm until someone says it's getting too serious around here again. I don't think they'd a right or a wrong way to do it. I haven't seen too many serious topics having the piss taken out of them recently. If you post it, they will discuss. I suspect that rather than try imposing rules to try and make people post serious responses, post up some serious threads to challenge people's minds. Maybe I'm completely wrong but that's my opinion. "

That's not true at all. Jesus, I used to be afraid to even peep in here a few years ago because of the bloodshed. I'm sure plenty of people remember the rows that used to occur on a daily basis and usually involved a certain lady or three who were volatile to say the least. That was in the days when we discussed issues such as clerical child abuse, the dogma of the Catholic Church, partition, the Orange Order and various other meaty subjects until people said we needed to lighten up and have a bit of a laugh. |

The forums imo is pathetic. A guy posts he's made fun of. A girl posts the same thing and nobody can give her attention and approval quick enough. It's a joke here though. A girl commented on the forums yesterday who i was talkin to in private and in the forums they were all piss taking until she disagreed with them. Within minutes she had 5 mail from verified members. 3 agreeing with her but wouldn't say it in the forums and the other too pretty much asking her for fun. Total snakes if u ask me |

And you probably are right and alot will agree and in alot of cases i would.... we all have urge to say something but why give those people the air time. IMO and you can agree or disagree most peoples responses like yours above come across as sounding like whining. Some people are here for no drama , my best advice dont get involved in it. |

A cpl of ideas that might improve the forum experience:
1. Only show the first 200 characters of the previous post when replying to a post (or a fixed amount)
2. Restrict forum posting to verified people (photo is fine) or site supporters only |
