The Streisand effect is the phenomenon whereby an attempt to hide, remove, or censor a piece of information has the unintended consequence of publicizing the information more widely, usually facilitated by the Internet. It is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware something is being kept from them, their motivation to access and spread the information is increased.
It is named after American entertainer Barbra Streisand, whose 2003 attempt to suppress photographs of her residence in Malibu, California, inadvertently drew further public attention to it. Similar attempts have been made, for example, in cease-and-desist letters to suppress numbers, files, and websites. Instead of being suppressed, the information receives extensive publicity and media extensions such as videos and spoof songs, often being widely mirrored across the Internet or distributed on file-sharing networks |

I recall ripping the arse out of my trousers in school one day and the tear stretched from the bottom of the zip almost back up to the waistband at the back. At lunchtime I was looking through a magazine that one of the girls had and there was a photo of Barbara Streisand in it, wearing a figure hugging dress that left nothing to the imagination. I got such an instantaneous and enormous erection that it popped out instantly through the tear, thereby drawing more attention to the whole clothing disaster. Does that "Streisand effect" count?  |

No I try to keep my nose out of people's anal cavities. Barbara however had a rather large nose and would often find it had been inserted into the arses of random strangers of its own accord. A hellish existence |

I don't think you can ever foresee the results though? One persons comment can change the direction of any thread. I've made threads which have gone way off topic due to one comment, in a good way and sometimes in a bad way. |
