Sorry to hear about your partner, I wish her all the best.
It's worth pointing out that not all women with ovarian cancer will have a raised CA125, so anyone who feels they might be at risk should discuss other tests with their doctor. |

My friend died last year from ovarian cancer. They didn't find it until it was too late. She was 36 and the doctor didn't take her seriously until was too late to help her. |

That's awful
I read somewhere that doctors don't take female patients as seriously as male patients. |

She was going to the doctor for a year with pain. Finally they checked but it was too late. She died last June. She married her husband 2 days before she died and left 4 kids behind. Just awful. Doctors need to learn to listen. |

That's really heartbreaking, but I'm not shocked. I'd say that kind of thing goes on all the time |

Unfortunately the symptoms of ovarian cancer are also symptoms of very common conditions such as IBS. It really is worth persisting or asking to be referred to a specialist if you feel something is amiss, especially if there is family history of breast and ovarian cancer. |

Yearly smear tests for girls even if you have to pay for them. It's worth it. And 25 is too late for your first. Really as soon as you're sexually active you should be having them. 10 minutes of discomfort might catch it early. |

Smear tests check for cervical cancer and pre-cancerous cell changes, not ovarian cancer. |
