Anyone ever live in ansterdam??
Jump to: Newest in thread
I've not lived there, but been a few times. It's a very expensive place to live, i'm lead to believe. Rents are unbelievable. I'm assuming you're not looking at the city itself? Cos I hope you're rich.

I was thinking of it a few years back - some good testimonies on YouTube from emigrants and Dutch people. Sounds hard to get set up there these days and you have to work hard to find accom but it sounds like a great place to live even with all that. |

I lived there for 4 years. There is an pat centre to help you get situated.
Though if your work can be classed as high skill you can get a big reduction on your tax they have a special scheme.
Rents are high so is the cost of living.
The quality of life is better than here in a lot of aspects.
Though warning you now holland is very deeply racist. The western provinces are not that bad but the closer you get to the German border the worse it gets.
I use to live in the deep south in the USA and I was shocked at the stuff that goes on in Holland and I am completely anti PC culture |

I lived there in the 90s so not very relevant to now
Tax I thought then was 50%.
As for the racism it was pretty bad. Was constantly looked down as just another English guy there for their drugs when I was an irish guy there for their drugs.

There is a lot of extremist scum with very anti western attitude in Amsterdam. Amsterdam West area is a no go area breeding ground for extetemists. Similar to Molenbeek in Brussels. |

I use to live there for 12 years . The 30 % rule is still in force . Precondition is that you are hired abroad , e.g. before you move to NL. The rule can be granted for 5 years and can be extended for another 5 years. Your gross income must be 48k + . Not sure about the actual number as i left a few years ago . However there is no guarantee that the rule will be granted. It depends on the work your Dutch accountant does to file your application . Usually your employer sponsors the use of a big4 accountant office . If granted you may opt for registry as “deemed non resident “ then you only pay tax over your domestic Dutch income . Or you register as resident tax payer and your entire global income will be subject to Dutch tax regime . |

"On Sunday I will he living here 8 years....only came for a year!
Can you not find the door out or something "
Certainly, I've just chosen not to open it.
The reply above yours is pure rubbish also. You don't need 30% blah blah rule and you certainly don't need a sponsor to move over here. |
