I'd love to be a single mod on fab for 6 months to a year. I'd leave the vast majority of things go. Not banning people right left and centre, plus pulling threads. In all facets of life you have disagreements and debates. Everyone Is not going to get on. Who would vote for me as the leader of fab?

Well in fairness you're one of the few that don't get snarky or personal when someone doesn't agree with your thoughts or opinions. And you can have an intelligent conversation when debating. I say throw your pants in. Worst they can say is no.

I imagine to be a moderator requires you to be neutral...not seeing neutrality there...from the other side of the fence, the job always looks easier...be careful what you wish for. You may swing from having a fab time to a moderate one

And I fucking hate trump. lol that's because u are in serious terms a want to be mod who most certainly doesn't take this place with a pinch of salt.ud love to control this site

I'd rather eat my own eyeballs than mod this place. Putting manners on a bunch of so called adults behaving like children? I'm already not a parent in real life. No fucking chance I'd want to do it here.that's exactly it. Modding this place involves u been to serious if doing it the way ur is now. That's why it needs me in charge.

I have no idea what you just tried to say. ur a serious individual, the way things are at the moment it would suit u down to the ground been in charge. With me brings change, big change

You only think I'm serious....

lol u are serious, in relation to this website anyway and u come across as a fella who would love to run things

Better things to be doing with my time.

But sure knock yourself out snickers, be a mod if you want to be. What with loads of cool celebrities dying, an orange bigot running for the white house, brexit, and the world going to hell in a hand basket, what's another cherry on the apocalypse sundae gonna matter?

Ride that bomb all the way down baby! "

Mods enforce pre-agreed rules for the forums. If some breaks a rule then they are dealt with, if a thread breaks rules it's removed. I don't see how this would be fun? Rules are rules, opinions are objective?

rules are for kids in school. U come in here do a thread, the thread takes its course. There migh5 he debate disagreements etc, that's part and parcel of life. If a person doesn't obay your wearing and hos/her behaviour gets out of the ordinary ban them from thread. No need to remove a whole thread.

Depends on the subject matter and how it's worded. I've seen threads and posts rightly removed for going from having a debate to out and out abuse. There's a fine line, and as people here famously know, one persons idea of banter is another persons idea of bullying

Well there you go, that's your opinion. But that's not my opinion. I think everyone has the right to use the forums. So who's right and who's wrong?

A mod moderates a forum, people shouldn't feel insulted or harassed. So where as you think they should have a thick skin, I don't think people should be subjected to feeling that way at all

"I'd love to be a single mod on fab for 6 months to a year. I'd leave the vast majority of things go. Not banning people right left and centre, plus pulling threads. In all facets of life you have disagreements and debates. Everyone Is not going to get on. Who would vote for me as the leader of fab?

I imagine to be a moderator requires you to be neutral...not seeing neutrality there...from the other side of the fence, the job always looks easier...be careful what you wish for. You may swing from having a fab time to a moderate one "

No need to remove a whole thread.

Offensive posts should be removed, if they are left up it instigates more arguments? What's offensive? Someone's opinion on a matter that could cause offence to others?

Depends on the subject matter and how it's worded. I've seen threads and posts rightly removed for going from having a debate to out and out abuse. There's a fine line, and as people here famously know, one persons idea of banter is another persons idea of bullying i think online anybody who hasn't a thick skin should steer well clear of forums

That's not a choice you get to make though. it's a choice u make with your own head. Some people get offended over an opinion or literally nothing Just because someone might get offended over an opinion doesn't mean a poster or thread should be removed

No, but that's not what she's saying. read it again.

One persons idea of banter is another's idea of bullying. I know how I'd deal with that anyway and it wouldn't be a ban or thread removal

How exactly would you deal with it then? "

if it was clear as day banter/joking was there nothing would be done.

I don't think moderators are allowed to stamp any individuality into their role; they act on behalf of the site's views and regulations not their own.

It's a thankless task as well as a necessary one.

Instead of proposing if someone doesn't have thick enough skin that they should stay away from forums, I'd say if someone doesn't agree with a forums rules and way of moderating then they should avoid them in the first place.

Probably easier than removing all the shitty comments as most people use the reply and quote function.

If idiots just read the rules in the first place & could keep their big, bigoted, sexist, uncultured mouths shut & act like regular human beings, there'd be no need for banning or thread removal but unfortunately Fab is a cross section of society & fucktards get in here too.

Was a moderator of forum before on sports website , and had power to remove posts that felt were offensive ...which i think is right way to go... a simple message to poster giving reason for removal would be suffice if they have issue then feck off forum... i am all for free speech and opinions but make them general which has credibility ... personal statements about other people i think are unwarranteed and be removed and as last resort remove a thread completely

I've known and had dealings with a few Mods.....some good, some not so good. A little common sense in application of 'the rules' goes a long way, in my book. Some have/use it, some don't. Unfortunately Fab isn't a democracy and those that are mere members just have to suck it up. Have only ever seen 1 Mod removed but her abuse of powers was flabbergasting and she didn't last long. I don't think everything she did was set straight, so people suffered consequences, even after she had her hat taken from her. Fab isn't what it used to be....

Thought one of the rules for a time out was no derailing threads which is a constant on here by a small few.

I think that should be one of your points as you put your hat in for mod. Lots of us would appreciate seeing posts staying somewhat on topic

alot of threads on here u have a couple of posters come in and have a discussion, nothing to do with the thread and could easily be carried out in private. I, myself probably have done it.

"There are some who would keep a mod employed 24/7 with all their reporting How very true and some of the people doing the reporting are the biggest bullies of all.

I agree If a few more people stood up to the bullies on here and don't let them rule the place. "

Ironically they often think they are the victims of 'bullying' themselves

And sometimes they're right. If you can't vent about it on the forum (no can't have that) or can't name and shame (which I agree with, even though I've wanted to so many times) what's left? Report. And if people who get shit on think that they can't report lest others think they're crying victim? What then?

The bullies win, that's what.

Trolls for the most part you can ignore (though it's difficult sometimes)

But bullying should be addressed and nipped in the bud. It's toxic and serves no purpose.

Exactly, and if someone is being an obvious troll or a prick, telling them that is not bullying either.

there are a few posters who seem to have the art of bullying and trolling down to a fine art here , I suppose its lucky that they don't post on the other popularish website where I actually am a moderator , because then theyd be in permanent bannsville .

What defines bullying though?

It's a wordy bandied around a lot here when really i think it's often folk just bleating because people don't agree with their opinions. They think they're being 'picked on' but it's just a difference of opinion and off they go on a tantrum

The word troll is very easy to throw at people you don't like or agree with.

All well and good. A difference of opinion is just that. But more abusive behaviour has stemmed from these differences in the past. Then that leads to bickering on the forum, bad mouthing in private, status wars and bannings

It happens across all orientations and genders

It's making cynics of us all

Not a kind of statement I would like to see from a moderator anywhere.
