Hi all
I am not going to name names, but a good while ago I chatted to a young woman on a dating site. She was nice enough but the connection just wasn't there, no spark so no dates.
Today she walked into my fucking work, told me she had tried several different leisure centres but had finally managed to track me down!
I have a whole new appreciation for the absolute nightmares people face using online dating sites. This must be what it feels like to be attractive, and worth stalking! |

That's awful. I hope you gave out shit to her and made it clear that you do not want to see her again and to never come near you again.
If a guy did this to a girl and they posted it on the forums the replies would be completely different.

And plenty of psycho men too but the reaction to it is terrible. I'd freak out if a guy turned up at my work and I'd be straight to the Garda. It's not acceptable behaviour and being told to grow a pair is stupid. She did something wrong and he's every right to be freaked. |

Alright, here's the full story. Frankly I have to say the responses would be a lot different if a woman had experienced the same thing from a man.
I chatted to her on pof where I told her I worked at a local leisure centre. She was attractive and friendly enough but the chat just sort of fizzled out and we didn't really click so we did not meet at all for a date. In fact I deleted my pof account as the site is shit.
10 days later (i.e. yesterday) she walks into my place of work, asks to see me. I take her to one side, explained I was not interested and that she was acting very strange by turning up at my place of work.
She apologised, I asked her to leave and hopefully that's the last I will see of her. Oh, and I am telling no one online where I work ever again lol |

He said he wants a relationship- which is interpreted as he wants to marry me within 6 months and have babies.
I've tried the pof thing but my conclusion is fab is just more straight forward. There is no need to tell fibs to get a girl into bed as that's her only objective. Much simpler! |

Now we get a clearer picture. I agree with you that if you were a woman the responses might have been different. However had you outlined the whole story a bit more from the beginning the responses might have been different altogether too. Being long enough on fab, I heard all sorts of things and many stories took a u-turn when digging a bit deeper.
It's certainly not on to stalk someone and it's not a topic to joke about. I hope it ends there and now for you. And I'm glad to read that you learned a lesson yourself. Never give out personal information to a person you have never met in your life. |

being more careful with personal security might also apply - nice, gender neutral approach - be aware with whom and when you share contact info.
as a married bloke playing away I've always been super discreet with my data, for the obvious reasons. |
