So I read the bikini ready thread, very informative! I'm looking to start exercising after finishibgva very busy year of college and exams. I would prefer not to go joining gyms just yet but wondered if anyone tried at home first what did they do on a daily/weekly basis? My diet is sparce as I haven't much of an appetite in the heat but it might need attention too. All suggestions welcome |

I read an article a while back saying that walking has very little impact on weight loss. There are a load of exercise videos on YouTube. Google that lean in 15 guy he has some amazing workouts but they are HIIT and if you're like me (hopeless with exercise) then you will find them difficult but well worth it. Also Nike have an app with hundreds of workout videos which I find great. I also used to do Pilates which is amazing for core strength. There's so many options you really need to tailor it to what you find enjoyable. Good luck |

Hi , YouTube is your best bet. There is great videos on there that are very informative. But your diet is 80% and exercise is 20%. I love the Zumba YouTube videos. Also I am starting back exercise and I will start with walking/jogging intervals. Then home to do ab work.
Which would be planks, sit ups & press ups. I'd do three sets each for 45 seconds with a 15 second rest. Although I'm no PT I have learned from Google & a personal trainer.
I don't clean eat but I go to slimming world & get weighted every week. I've being a target member for a year until I change my target weight four weeks and now I've only 2.5 pound to my new target . I have exercised once since March as we have moved . And I'm still losing weight.
The best of luck |

Walking isn't much good for weight loss or fitness. Our bodies are made to walk with very little effort, arms sway from momentum
But change that to even a very easy slow jog and you will be using muscles and burning fat
Even walk for few mins then jog for few mins til you get going |

You need to find something that suits your personality and fits into your lifestyle. If you find it hard to motivate yourself, agree with a friend to do something together - we often keep obligations to others rather than those we have to ourselves!
Address your diet too, pointless exercising if you don't, although you may lose weight, poor diet habits will impact your general health and have long-term effects too. |

I think youtube will be the most informative way to go, don't know why I didn't think of that myself "duh". I do walk for around 40 mins a day not fast walking though. I am a single parent/student so classes, trainers, and to some extent gym memberships are just an expense I can't afford right now! However I want to be practical and realistic so if I can do a plan for myself on set days I can put it on a visual board and I know I am more than likely to keep that into my schedule. I don't eat white bread, don't take sugar in tea/coffee but probably love my cheese far too much. |

If you are 100% serious you sud take a look on beachbody.com I do workouts from there and they are great
There is everything for every level of fitness
And you don't have to waste time and money going to a gym
A trainer Tony Horton has a new one out now that is 22 mins long and you get brilliant results in 8 weeks core something it's call can't remember
It's like 2 payment of 19.99 dollars and you get lots of stuff with it.
They have portion control containers and all
I am going a different program at the min that I am half way through but can't wait to try that one
https://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/22-minute-hard-corps-workout.do
There is the link if you wanna have a look at it
It is worth a look
I lost over 3 stone after I started beach body programmes

"Walking does help, but not just a stroll, join a boxercise class or something like that, exercising at home can become boring..." I second that check out your local Thai kickboxing club they do no fight training too. Love your pic btw

Weight Loss - Calorie deficit is king...
But strive for progression not perfection - 3 meals a day should contain protein, fats, carbs
Protein - size of palm and fingers
Carbs - fist size
Fats - Thumb sized
Veggies - 2 handfuls *loads of greens*
2key points for me and clients is water intake 2L + and sleep 8hours . Huge impacts on energy levels which help body function.
Gym isn't affordable for you and that's okay. Start with what you can control like above sleep, water and portion control. And keep active brisk walks if that's all you can do.
If you nail just them basic I guarantee weight/fat loss then move on to training and reassessing the diet
Don't get hung up on gimmicks like detox tea, waist trainers, slimming world. Maybe avoid YouTube training till you have the basics down
Just my 2 cents
Good luck

I don't know anything about you, size or shape etc but I'm gonna suggest one thing....don't know if it's applicable to you but might help someone else. My local health board has got together with the local council to run 'Fermanagh Active Living'. It's for anyone with a bmi over 30 with diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke etc. They give you 12 free gym sessions, if you show that you've made changes at the end of this you get another 12 and after that you get a reduced rate for the gym. I started it a few weeks ago and it's great...ask around and see if there's something in your local area |

Exercise must be target specific. If you just want a cleaner lifestyle and to get a little fitter your work out and diet will be vastly different to someone who is in training for a cycling or hell ad back style event they have gotten roped into...again .
Unless you have years of experience behind you I cannot stress enough how important it is to pay for a class or two with a good PT. Every Tom Dick and Harry body builder or gym freak is now a PT but unless they have qualifications posted on the gym wall avoid them and ask for someone who does.
Set a realistic goal for yourself. First and foremost should be a diet to compliment the level of training you intend on doing. Let's not forget some of us carry to much weight but many other carry to little. It's so important to understand the balance of foods your body needs and not to buy the sugar loaded protein powders/teas and €3 organic nut bars. Eat clean and eat cheap.
Good luck OP |

Exercise classes are great ways of doing so and are also good socially.
If you don't have the confidence for that, buy a few weights, a skipping rope or exercise bike and train away in the house but if this good weather lasts, why not try jogging or a proper bike?
If you're adamant you want to exercise in the privacy of your own home, what about the likes of a Wii or Nintendo fitness system? |

That is a sterling idea proactive health programme's like this are far more beneficial than the likes of a sugar tax, both short and long term benefits far outweigh the the cost of such a scheme. Employment in leisure centers, the obvious health benefits to the participants especially those in danger of risks like diabetes, high blood pressure and coronary illnesses freeing up hospital space and resources, also the social out let for participants
It never happen down here there's no noticeable misery inflicted on anyone the politicians won't have it |

It really boils down to eating less and moving around more.
But if your diet is not right then you going to have to move around a lot more.
It should be a lifestyle thing and not a diet thing but whatever you choose good luck with it and we look forward to watching your success.

I signed up to a weight loss program a few year's back. I walked 5 km four day's a week (mon to fri)...increasing my time week by week. 1 aerobics class on Thursday evening and sat on my ass for the week end. Made healthier food choices...discovered the secret to loving salads is in finding a healthy dressinv you like. Did that for 16 weeks and dropped two dress sizes, two stone and was toned up.
Best of luck with it all |

There are a good few calories counting websites that are very useful when sorting out a diet. They all have apps which will allow you to scan barcodes etc to make tracking what you eat easier. At first it can be tedious entering everything but after awhile you should gain a good knowledge of how many calories are in things so you won't even have to keep track of things all the time.
One of the biggest issues I have seen for people trying to lose weight is that they have no idea how many calories are in foods. Often people think once they eat "healthy" foods then they should be fine. |

Thanks to each and every one of ye sexy mofo's for your suggestions, support and stories! It would be a "fab" idea to set up a whatsapp group or was it kik? I can't remember. Anyhow I feel like I want to do the exercise thing right, slowly and find something I actually enjoy so I am going to do the couch to 5k app and watch some yoga tutorials on youtube, and also some cardio ones. Then in conjunction I with the help of a trainer on here (who offered his expertise for nothing!) I hope to make 2/3 permanent changes to my diet and nail them down first, let them become part of my normal eating habit and then tackle another few so I am comfortable with the fact that its going to be a forever change and not a fad diet to lose weight. |
