Hi all, just a quick question, if you block someone profile does that mean you don't have to see their updates in the local updates etc?
Also on a slightly different note,
has anyone noticed people organising meets and then deleting their profile (often in the case where you've set off and sometimes travelled many miles only to arrive, log into fab and see the profile is gone) are they just messers or pic collectors or something more sinister, this has happened to me more than a couple of times over the last few months, I had assumed they had lost their nerve (which can happen if you're vanilla). I rarely look to meet new profiles so it not always a case of that they're vanilla, or so the profiles might lead you to believe
Just wondering about what the genuine fabbers think |

Of course there are those announcing parties who have no intention of going through with them.. there was one out West, collecting names of those interested... party never happened.
Same for one in Galway... just from memory.
It's FAB... |

Well we all know the place is overrun with a$$holes who can't understand why they're not doing as well as they'd like, bent blocked by idiots who are deeply offended and reply with text speak out downs when you say you're not interested is part and parcel, travelling for almost 2 hours to arrive and find out the profile is deleted is another on another level, a new type of hybrid a$$hole so to speak |

Could it start to become more than that though dare I say it, is it possible some on here have been gathering enough info after a while to potentially target people, there's just too many fake profiles smothering the scene on here for me, it's becoming increasingly difficult to commit with any level of trust unless the veris are left by seasoned fabbers. |

That's not another level, that's fab trolling 101. Happens all the time. They either block you or go unlos.
You need your bullshit radar calibrated very well. That comes with time and experience....and even then some slip through the net.

That's right. It's my primary reason for blocking people - I get fed up of repeated attention seeking statuses or paid for parties being advertised (when I'm in London anyway). It filters the local updates really well. |

"Unfortunately when you block someone it's only from mails not from viewing forum comets or posting on your thread.
Wish admin would sort that"
You can always choose not to read their posts? If people are banned from posting on a thread started by someone who has them blocked it would be a bit too much for my liking. It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that a substantial group of people who regularly start threads could get together and block someone, thereby effectively blocking them from using the forum, or at least limiting their access. It may not be likely but it's possible. |

I meant more like someone you blocked can still comment on your post or comment |

The organised meet and profile deletion happened to me.it was to be my first meet. So let down but luckily I didn't travel as profile was deleted as final arrangements were being made |

I had the same thing happen to me. Organized a meet in the city then they wanted to meet outside the city, (happened multiple times). I just said NO!, not sure what the game was but I wasn't going to play it. Now I only do coffee meets first then decide, safer that way. Oh be careful, they tend to send fake pics, instead of posting them on their profiles. |

You're not meant to use the forum to try and contact someone who's blocked you. Now, exactly how that is enforced I don't know. If they simply comment on a thread you've started or posted on and don't refer to you then maybe they get away with it. I don't know what happens if they quote you or refer to you.
What I do know is I started a thread once to ask a GUY i'm friendly with on the forum to pm me as I wanted to ask him something in private, as he had guys filtered out (we had not blocked each other at all) and I got a two day ban for that. |

Could be wrong but don't think that's a banning offence |

A lot of people who block do so to cut down on the numbers contacting them, or simply block profiles that they're not interested in meeting. For those people to then be banned from posting on that person's thread would be a bit too much, given that most people don't even know that they've been blocked by certain users. There are rules about using the forum to contact people who have blocked you and that is enough in my opinion. |
