They're not all guilty of it, but some do seem to get a sick kick out of it

Nobody can "string you along" without your compliance, if you're not getting what you want from a situation, draw the line and move on. |

Yes, and when that time is up, stop kidding yourself. Also, learn to distinguish between talk and action.

I'm not trying say it's just men...but seeing as I'm not into women I've never experienced it.
Also I'm not here to get slated I was only asking a genuine question, personally I don't see how anyone can get a kick out of it.  |

It's so easy to be led on by men or women. The players are very good at telling you what you want to hear. The OP didn't say it was anyone from fab, it happens on and off the site. We're only human after all. |

I don't believe anyone but a sociopath truly does this for pleasure, people do it because of their own flaws and weaknesses, they are afraid to be honest about what they want, or don't even know what they want, or afraid to have a real relationship which means putting your trust in another - their only "power" comes from manipulation, even though it is ultimately self-destructive. It takes courage to be honest. |

There are many reasons to lead someone on:
He's not sure if you're the right one
He's using you as a rebound
He doesn't want to hurt your feelings
He's only looking for something casual
He's a whimp
He doesn't know how to tell you
etc.
I know it's more tricky when feelings are involved. Listen to your gut feelings next time, we're normally aware when something isn't going the way we wish it to be but deny it until it gets unbearable.
I think the best is to confront it. Showing feelings is not a weakness, it's a strength. You've nothing to loose if he's not really interested in you, it might hurt for the time being but at least it's not an ongoing slow burning endless painful process. |

It's also entirely possible for both to be attempting to play the other, one using sex to try to get commitment, the other playing along to keep getting laid - then one person ends up complaining of feeling used when it doesn't pan out as they had planned.
