lost today and again a few weeks back. I'd be amazed if she won gold at Olympics at this stage. It's like an article I read after her gold in last Olympics. Writer said it would be a huge error to try go again in 4 years claiming she would be over the hill. He might just be proved right |

It's like an article I read after her gold in last Olympics. Writer said it would be a huge error to try go again in 4 years claiming she would be over the hill. He might just be proved right "
Wouldn't say she is fucked. She is a victim of her own success. 4 years ago other Fighters and coaches seen how good and her team were and they all upped their game. Women's boxing has improved a lot in the last 4 years and a lot of that is because people are following Katies example. She will win gold (fingers crossed) but she will have to fight a lot harder for it

The last few months will have been hard for her. But she will know now what she has to do. And she will come out of it better off than she was 4 years ago. |

A pity for Katie, she'll come back, but her pride has been hurt.
Well since he left Billy Walsh has had a huge impact in the states, it's all over the boxing news about their new found success. A big loss for the future of Irish boxing, and it wasn't about money, he told me that himself.. |

Unfortunately Katie isnt just quite the force of old, she has been the top female boxer in the world for the last eleven years but the rest have been catching up with her for the last few years. The constant pressure plus travelling and training are taking their toll but she definitely still has one big tournament left in her and I think the magic ingredient to her retaining her Olympic title is getting her dad Pete back in the corner, since he has taken a back seat a few months ago that wee spark seems to have been missing.
As for Kelly Harrington (not Kellie as the RTE seem to think) its been a massive week its just a pity for her that her weight class isn't in the Olympics but to be only the fifth Irish boxer in a World amateur final is some achievement. |
