Hope I don't annoy any unmarried mothers out there tonight, and if I do I apologise in advance, I went out to an establishment earlier on this evening for food and drinks with a girl. I was shocked to see them d*unk and loudmouthed the crap there kids had to deal with.kids allowed to stay there till nine bored out of there tiny little minds. The limited intelligence co nversation the shit they were saying to each other and the poor kids.i think its awful that kids are allowed stay till that hour in a pub.its all to much to describe in a post here.if it were up to me I would never let kids into a place till that time.and I do have kids myself.sorry for the rant but I had to get that off my chest. |

Children are allowed to stay till 10pm during May to September due to the longer evenings. There are allowances to stay longer if you are the proprieters child. Sorry to hear your date was compromised by the little people. We were all children once, and I have fond memories of hanging out on a nice day with other kids in a new environment. |

how exactly do you know these women were not married , sounds to me like you have a pre conceived notion that women who have children and sit in a pub must be parenting alone ? I am a liflong non drinker , as was my husband , so our children never sat in pubs whilst we got twisted , but I do have fond memories of being in the local with my parents on a sunday having lemonade and crisps while my father had a hard earned pint . I hope no one viewed my dear mother as some unmarried alcoholic , just because she was there . |

How do you know that they weren't on a couple of nights away? Like a mini break. I'm sure we were all in the pubs a little longer than we should have on holidays.

Exactly this...
If I was away for a night or two I'd definitely be out with my kids obviously I'd be sure they were supervised but it's a very unfair assumption op...
I never go to the local with my kids but then again have been to my local where I've seen exactly this!
Everyone is different and it's unfair to make such comments on overall...
Plus they are mothers their marriage status is unimportant... |

You've annoyed me a bit by the tone of your post. Whether the mothers were married or not is irrelevant. It does sound a bit like your own past has coloured your view of these things.
I actually agree that parents drinking with underage children is a no no, particularly if it's all day and there's no sober person in the company. I like a drink now and then, but rarely drank alcohol in the presence of my children when they were young. They're old enough now that I can have a drink with them, but they still won't see me d*unk. |

I have 4 kids myself and my opinion is kids shouldn't be in a pub.
Yes, OK, if there's a family event (party, christening etc) fair enough but they should be gone home by 6.
I've seen it many times, people having kids in pubs, and not just single parents, but married cpls. Not something I agree with at all

I don't even see a problem having a civilised pint or two in the pub bringing the kids with you. It all depends which pub you're going to, that one adult has no drink to drive safely home should you go by car.
Once it gets out of hands of course that's another story. |

He'd wouldn't want to go abroad on holiday then...
Every night here kids all over the place running riot....
Can't say I've asked or noticed if the mums are "unmarried" or "married" tho...
But the men seem to hang about the bar oblivious to it and it's only the mums trying to keep an eye on them... |

Been on holiday is completely different. There is nothing as bad as been in a pub having a nice pint, out to watch a game or something like that and u have kids screaming running amuck up and down the pub. |

Maybe they were having a bite to eat too, and finishing up before they headed home. It can be quite lonely and isolating being home with small children alone. Maybe they don't get out very often and were making the most of a bit of time out.
You not only judged them as lower class because they're 'unmarried mothers' (so what?) but you also judged them on their, according to you, unintelligent conversation.
What business is it of yours what other people do?
You only judged the women as bad, but didn't mention the men who were drinking with the kids there too until asked.
Very arrogant of you.

"He said the kids were sitting there looking bored.
Hardly running amok and disturbing the whole place. He has a big problem with 'unmarried mothers' not the men or kids apparently." I'm talking about another situation with kids in a pub. I doubt though in a normal everyday setting kids would like to be in a pub past 9 o clock while their parents drink. |

I think we all agree with the op that kids shouldn't be allowed to run amok in a pub...
But the assumption that they were "unmarried" mothers it makes no difference and it was a pretty unfair...that "married" mothers would be different or better!
They are mothers....
