Insomnia is when you are tired but can't sleep.
If you are awake till 4 am every night, but you are absolutely shattered, then its insomnia.
If you are awake till 4 am every night but feel okay, you just have a different sleeping pattern.
Sleeping for more than 4 hours at a time is only a new thing for humans. It happened due to the invention of accurate cheap clocks allowing people to all wake at the same time to go to work.
Before the clock people used to sleep twice. They would go to bed at around 9pm or something early, they would sleep for about 4 hours and then they would actually get up out of bed.
Sometimes they would go read, go write, even go visit neighbours, the religious might pray for it.
after an hour or two or three, they would go back to sleep.
So they would get out of bed if they woke up, and only return back to bed to sleep, they would leave bed if they couldnt sleep.
Anyway, I don't have insomnia, so good night. |

I'd be surprised if many people could read or write before clocks were invented - but I get your point. |
