So Im giving my old iPhone to my 12 y/o son and it's making me nervous!
Does anyone know who I can take it too and make sure it's totally wiped clean?
I'm a total techno phobe and need someone who won't judge to do it for me |

Sorry forgot a vital bit of info.
I can't remember the passcode so it needs reset and then everything deleted.
I've googled it but honestly can't figure out how to do it. I really don't want to just leave it in somewhere as you just know they will have a good nosey! |

Apologies if these are what you've already googled OP. The recovery mode option might look the way forward;

Do you have those tech shops in Belfast run by Chinese guys? All the rage here they should be able to do it for you there and then.
Didn't the FBI have problems cracking an iphone? |

I gave my last Samsung galaxy to my daughter, now to say I checked it a million times is an understatement. Restore to factory settings and put in a new simple. Remember to remove any storage cards too. My worst nightmare |

U don't need the pass code to reset it, should be a small pinhole on the phone somewhere. Pressing a pen or something into that and holding for a few secs will bring options up on the phone to reset. I did it a few times for my niece when she locked her phone

Nah there's no pun reset on an iPhone. I fix devices in my spare time for family and friends and it only was to ensure a complete wipe is to put it into recovery mode and restore it through iTunes |

Just reset it to factory settings. The smutt will always be in the memory somewhere but it would take a tech geniuse to find it. Hope this helps |

I do digital forensic recovery.
Encrypt the device then do a factory reset.
If you only do a factory reset its very easy to recover almost everything from before it was wiped.
Step 1: Encrypt.
Easy to follow instructions below https://ssd.eff.org/en/module/how-encrypt-your-iphone
Step 2: Factory reset
Then you can rest easy !!!

Best bet in my opinion would be to go into a CompuB or Carphone Warehouse and speak to one of the techies (not the salespeople) and they should be able to walk you through a factory reset there and then |
