Saw a very sad story today about a man in Ireland who committed suicide after exchanging intimate filming with what turned out to be a scammer. The woman posted his pics to his friends on social media. We have had many approaches from people lately looking to Skype, photograph etc or to attend parties with complete strangers. We are not interested so please don't waste your time.

"A lot of sick people around including on here. I hope the scammer has it on his conscience every day he/she lives"
I hope legal proceedings are brought against her....

I know someone that happened too. Luckily the person involved had nothing to hide and wasn't guilted into paying money. The 'lady' involved posted it to his Facebook page, claiming he'd been filmed in front of a small child. She was reported to the guards and he tightened up his Facebook security and learned a valuable lesson. |

Just keep your security tight. Set it up that you have to agree to be tagged in pics before they show on your wall. Also keep your friends list private so only you can see it, and make it so only you can write on your own wall, and that only you can see what's written on your wall. That gives you a good degree of control. There are other things you can tighten up too, but the ones I mentioned will give you a good degree of safety. Also remember to change your settings so that only you or only you and your friends can see the things you or others post involving you.

This so sad. Last summer, a young 17 year old committed suicide after being tricked to share pics with what he thought was a girl but was a Nigeria gang who blackmailed him for £3k or they would publish pics on social media, after sharing with some of his friends when he failed to pay ransom..tragic
