I'm a apprentice mechanic , if it keeps going dead just randomly it's a faulty battery and if it's on and off going dead could be faulty wiring may be broken somewhere along the loom and a pothole or ramp would set it off |

Most likly the battery if your hearing clicking. Jump start it and see if that gets it going. Look on the top the battery most will have a indicator (Green or Red cicrle to let you know if its dead.) If its red get a new one and if its green get someone to test it still just incase it could be the alternator not charing it.

"Sorry just read your comments you have a dodgy starter motor I can nearly be sure of it with the clicking sound and all dash lights etc working " was thinking the same can't be the battery as I'm charging the old one and I even put a new one in her I then put the old in a polo and it started that with no issues as my car is seat arosa so same parts as the polo

If it is the starter motor then get one from a scrap yard. Cars aren't thrown away/scrapped because that broke. Just check you can take it back if it doesn't work.

Just make sure you tell the family member that you put a new battery in on thursday.
The alternator is most likly not charging the battery up that would explain why your battery is dead now. |

Low power in the battery, when was the last time it was replaced. A good battery might only last 4 years. Or less. Cold weather can kill a battery very quick. If your driving and your headlights aren't great then the alternator |

Had something similar once.... was working on car so disconnected battery, (forget why), anyway stuck battery in again and then went to shop, everything was working, lights/radio etc but when I went to start it.. nothing just a click!
Opened bonnet and then realized I'd forgotten to tighten one of the cable terminal bolts fully.
Tightened it and away it went... |

If there's one thing you need in life, it's a trusted mechanic. I got my Da's & I don't think I've ever had a laid up car, he gets a bottle & a Christmas cake every year & I get a call the week before my car is due it's service. They are priceless. |

I've heard of something like this happening on a Seat before. I'm sorry I can't remember what it was, but I do know the car I'm thinking of is laid up and didn't get fixed, despite many efforts. Hope your family member, or someone else can sort it for you. It's hard to be without a car in some parts of the country. |

Sounds like loose terminal to me too
Tighten both battery terminals. Failing that put car into first gear and try push car back and forward a bit then try it. Starter motor will often get stuck and this frees it |

I had only 600 miles on car and it was enough to stop it starting... it started, went to shop and wouldn't start on way back, everything worked except it wouldn't start until I tightened it fully! |

Sounds like loose battery connection make sure its down fully on the battery pole then tighten it up i would check the 2 of them are tight as that would cause it too click but cud be starter either but if u leave it in gear with ignition off give it a rock and cud move it out of the spot its jammed in and might start for you ive had all that with cars not starting and now have a toyota no probs all the best |

Sorry just seen its a Arosa. Check the back of the fuse box there should be a relay 109, it or the others might be faulty. |
