The Belgians knew this was coming after arresting Abdeslam last week. It's impossible to stop every attack, all we can do is remain vigilant and United against militant extremism - in whatever guise that may take.

I know at least ten people on a flight this morning to Brussels.

They were diverted mid air to Amsterdam.

They are all members of the same political party. There were a number of other countries sending representatives there for a convention today.

I wonder if that was tied in to the planning of the attacks.....

Delighted to read your friends are safe and well Anal Oral Pussy. Seems the attacks on major european cities are on the rise so id call it an attack on Europe itself. These cells can move about quite freely between Syria and mainland Europe.Having a channel between us might make it more difficult for them but that wasnt the case in London in 2007. They live among us.

Scary stuff. What's even scarier is that it was expected but not known where or when.

It can happen anywhere at any time, even here. Ever since we began to allow the US military to use Shannon we have become a potential target.

Exactly. Unfortunately most of today's news sources are Eurocentric or Americentric, and then they still only really focus on terrorism committed by brown people.

Don't get me wrong. I despise Islam and Daesh (the abbreviation of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" in Arabic which becomes a pun, literally describing them as bigoted eejits) but there's a lot more going on than we hear about?

On a related note, do we ever hear of Boko Haram (the black Isis) that controls an area the size of Slovakia?

Spot on, I just wanted to make a quick point with my earlier post but agree totally with what you said.

It's just human nature to not be concerned with something until it is on our doorstep. Now that it is, we're scared that we will be affected.

How do you slow down or stop these attacks if there is no brake to stop these terrorists coming into Europe or mechanism to deport them

Just a thought...people rightly condemning the terrorist attacks in Belgium. An attack on ordinary people by loons who believe they're killing for a cause they believe in, (see where I'm going yet?). That their views are right. That their version of a god is the right one and that they're killing people in his name yet some of the people on this site, that use these forums spout some shite about supporting loons closer to home. Whether it's in an airport, a bar or a town centre, in what ever country it's wrong. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter an all that!

But the European countries are bombing those countries further east just its not plastered all over the news so you dont hear about it,the paris attacks are a good example...look further into it and you find the french have been bombing the living shit out of civilian populated areas for a couple years now... Of course they were going to get it at some point, fact is propaganda is rife in the "civilised world" and you only hear about the negative Things because theres an agenda and the governments want your support, isis deserve to be wiped out no doubt and the fact that there can be no diplomatic way of stopping them makes it more than likely that a shoot to kill on site order will happen, but lets not be ignorant enough to think that all these "british Muslims" or French ones are joining isis because they are nutcases...they are being made aware of what the uk French us etc etc are doing in these far east countries and are taking a stand... Its just convenient that isis can use religious views as an excuse to gain extremists to their cause, if the Americans had just let things be in the middle east then isis never would have formed and that's a painful truth for some people to hear.

You're right to an extent folks. But never overlook the fact that for Salafism and Wahabism the goal is not change of circumstances or the influencing of political facts by use of force as it is in ordinary warfare or terrorism ( which is ultimately unconventional warfare. Their goal is the destruction of what they perceive to be the satanic Western world. This is existentialist, not merely political.

I do agree that some coutries are bombing futher eastern countries , thats because there are suspected terrorists there , they not hijacking plans and going to kill thousands of peoole at a time or going in bombing airports or sporting events etc, or shopping malls , if you dont follow Islam , then to them we are all terrorists in their eyes, unfortunately

RIP to all the lost souls yesterday

Yeah ur right the extremists do believe that and they need to be wiped out entirely, but you have to see that france has killed thousands and thousands of innocents in their bombings but all you heard about is the paris attacks, just because france and the uk and the US etc have "legal" armys and have the excuse of "suspected terrorists" to reduce a country to nothing more than rubble doesnt mean its any different to what they are doing to Europe, ireland has terrorist organisations imagine how wed all feel if those counties decided to turn on us... Only reason they wont is because we have nothing they want or can benifit with, all im saying is it isnt black and white and people should really take note of what is Happening, the past few days there has been isis attacks all over the place but all anyones heard of is brussles.... Says it all really.

To be honest, people just ignored the ignorance, instead choosing to respect the victims and their families..

On a thread such as this, it is best to let it go and not get upset.

Fair point but those that know Candy ,they "get" her view. Its not for everyone and might not be for you either. But theres no point in raking over old coals after the fire has burned out. Im sure all our thoughts ,including Candy ,are with the injured and dead, families and relatives. lets leave it there shall we? In peace.
