My daughter has her Debs this year.
She has also been asked to go to another one a month or so before.
She wants to skip her own Debs as she doesn't want to put "financial" pressure on me as she says she knows her father won't help.
I don't want her to miss her own one, I know she'll regret it in time.
Anyone got any advice or know of anywhere doing dresses at reasonable prices so I can get 2? Doesn't seem to be anywhere around here

It may not be an option, but my mam and I made my two debs dresses, she had an old sewing machine and we got the pattern and material in hickeys and customised them a bit. Meant no one else had the same dress as me but was down to money as we had none lol but ended up being a blessing!
Apart from that there's loads of dresses in charity shops or adverts that have all been worn only once? Some people sell bridesmaids dresses that were never worn. It's not ideal but an option? |

There was a shop I was told of close enough to us that did 2nd hand dresses, so I travelled to it and it was closed down
The same with a shop in Newbridge that I'd spotted.

Everyone in my day rented their dresses and suits. Thankfully we had a couple days to return. I remember my mom washing my dress and letting it drip dry over the bath hoping it would be ok to get our deposit returned 
I didn't think there was rentals anymore.

Hi OP , I don't know if this has already been suggested , but oxfam on George's street Dublin 2 have a bridal shop. , they do debs dresses as well as far as I know . Lots of their stock is actually brand new end if line stuff that's been donated . Dresses start from 30 or 40 euro . Good luck xxxx Pony |

OP what's your budget? I'd highly recommend ASOS.com. Girls going to debs these days don't tend to wear ball-gown style dresses any more, they more often wear party dresses, as if they were going on a really good night out. Get her to suss out what her friends are wearing. Either way, Asos is very reasonable, often have sales, have a great selection, delivery is free and very quick, and they've free returns too if the dresses don't suit. I often buy a selection of dresses from there if I'm just looking for one, and send back the ones I decide against |

Definitely try TKmax. I got my daughters there for £18. Mind you it was 10 years ago. But still......

Thank u so much everyone, I think I'm pretty much sorted. I spotted a dress today in Tk Maxx that would suit her beautifully and thanks to a very kind hearted fab lady we have a 2nd dress.
Best news of all is I got her class friend to talk her into going to her own Debs (she wouldn't listen to me about it) and she has just come home from school and told me she's asked her best male friend to go with her.
To say I'm over the moon is an understatement
I cannot thank u all enough, the kindness and warmth uve shown me is beyond compare
My love to u all sincerely xx
