dunno, i have tried nice messages and invariably..well 9/10 get read and no reply, i think for guys it can be disheartening, no matter how many times you read posts about how a nice message works, its probably just easier sending loads and loads of one liners and hope girls or couples like your pics....
..not my technique, but after being ignored and blanked numerous times i can see why guys fall into this trap |

No you're not being too picky and these types of messages stuff things up for other guys!
I can appreciate female/couples get many messages, many like that, then into the mix there might be one or two decent messages which might just get Bulk Deleted because the person gets peeved off!
So... if I send a nice message and see it deleted I wonder if (a) has person read it and is not interested, (b) Bulk Deleted it and not read it etc.
Many, if not interested won't send a 'No thanks'... because they then get abused! 
At the beginning it takes time getting used to all this!

FAB is just what it is... not much one can do about it and no point in guys moaning about it. There's just too many idiotic guys sending crappy messages!

I don't really know overall ... Generally I try to put a little effort into a first message and try make myself stand out but honestly I do wonder if it's worth the effort ????
Most times it's deleted unread ... Or worse is read and not deleted which really leaves you guessing !!!
Maybe the success rate for a one sentence intro with a dick pic attached yields a better return than spending time and effort on a proper message to get nada !!!
I think maybe just being part of the community and active online and forums is probs the best route ... People get used to seeing you around and if your lucky will take an interest |

Certain blokes simply disqualify themselves with their first message. However everyone deals in a different way with it. I simply answer with a no to the ominous wanna fuck message.
Also I don't dismiss a guy first hand because he sends me a cock pic (doesn't mean i'm keen of them), it depends on the message and profile and I try to reply to all messages.

We never send pics in a message . I have to say it's very disheartening when you write a message and send it to someone. Most ether dont read it or delete or read and never answer.
Some even send us back a friend request and then stop answering or reading messages. There seems to be a lot of messers on here taking the fun out of the site  |

I've just read the original post. So forgive me if I go over ground already covered.
See these requests for "originality" & "a bit of effort guys", I don't even bother messaging anymore. For the life of me I don't get it. For a start, When sending a first message, I have no idea who you are. So it's hard to strike up a first message based on a photo of two spread ass cheeks and a dirty asshole or a picture of five guys spunking their loads over tits, that have "cum slut" written on them. Explain to me what an original message consists of please? I always start any correspondence with a polite opening and more often than not, they are deleted. It's hard for guys on here to gauge what different users are looking for especially as the conflicting messages from users are so varied. So I would say, be patient with guys' first messages.
