Swinging business traveler

in da sticks, london, amsterdam, madrid

I realized that this week is one of my worst travel weeks ever. Yesterday I traveled from Cork to Basel, today I am sitting in Zurich to take the flight tomorrow to Amsterdam. On Wednesday I am supposed to be in Wilhelmshaven (DE) to be on Thursday in London, heading for Cork Friday night.

Is there anyone out there sharing my fate? Hasting from ones office to the next airplane to be in the next office just taken a few hours rest in some boring hotel....there is no space left to enjoy life, never mind time for any amorous encounter...sigh

Mr69: Ugh! I remember your pain although I never had such a busy schedule in one week. I stopped getting taxis & started hiring cars in country, it took up a lot of the waiting around. Home must seem ages away for you.

From one Port to the next is the cross I have to bear.

...and how do you cope with it? Isn't it a well paid but lonely life?

Mr69: I couldn't. I had to give it up after a few years and get something more local. UK was fine.

I wish I could do the same. But there is no work for me in Ireland or anything offered is at unacceptable tariffs

"...and how do you cope with it? Isn't it a well paid but lonely life?"

It is, but It's also an extremely social industry, with a big party and drink culture firmly attached. We alternate between wintering the yacht on the French Riviera or cruiceing the Caribbean islands. So we port in some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Once lines are made fast, and the boat is secure, It's off to explore. We (the crew) have a strict "One drink, One Bar" policy, when in a new port. I find its the best way to see a new city, meet its inhabitants and experience it's culture, and there is no better way to do that than a good old fashioned pub crawl.

But it's not all fun, sun and sex. I am away from friends and family in strange environments with strange people for long periods of time, but the sex helps with that.........

Well...at least you got rest periods. I am so racked in the race from city to city, when getting to the hotel I am only able to crawl into bed to gain some energy for next days race. Never mind of exploring the female population to whatever level...just to knackered

Yes I feel your pain. Atrocious week, and I'm barely halfway through it.

Started with a trip to Lidl for their cut price broccoli (an essential for the Belfast epicurean) before hitting Iceland before six o clock to avail of the cut price wares. Wrestled through my Central European brothers and emerged victorious with a much reduced gammon joint. The envious looks of the surly throng burned into my back as I left with my prize. Surely Tuesday would be better?

Woe is me. The bus this morning was five minutes late and after an eternity on Oxford Street (damn you bus lanes) I hit Belfast jetlagged and flustered. I brushed down my turquoise shell suit and emerged blinking like a new baby into the nascent day. Then - calamity! The Mace had run out of their "2 sausage rolls for a pound" offer. I explained that my bus had been delayed but to no avail! Then I was accosted by a pincer movement of chuggers leaving no spare time for amorous activities before work ( a sneak at the Daily Sport in Easons) to relieve my angst.

Oh when will these travails ever end? I'm so troubled I feel like I may have no option but to detail the minutiae of my important days on my status.....

Yes, I know about the genocides and the famines throughout the globe but we cogs of industry deserve to be heard don't we?

it's not easy being me ....
