Just saw a status.

'Great seeing a bbw in top pics and it's great to see not all men are into STICKS'

Now.

Dont get on high horses. Dont jump on the high and mighty pc brigade.

Just be Completely honest.

How would this status go down on fab. And how long would it take before i received a ban.

''Just saw a very fit and healthy size 8 woman in top pics, great knowing not all men are into fat yokes''

I know women here who get abuse when they post a pic. Either publicly or behind their back.

Funnily enough I've had people mail me and try take the piss out of people only for me to point out that they're talking bout friends of mine lol.

The point im making is the double standards here are a joke.

If I posted the status above there would be hell to pay.

But this one goes un challenged purely because she's a big lady and heaven forbid we risk being called fattist or something.

I can find a curvey woman absolutely beautiful. In the same way I can find a thin or fit woman beautiful.

So WHY is it the ones who make to most noise about getting abuse themselves who get to turn the tables and try abuse other people purely because they make different lifestyle choices?

I'm well aware there will be people who fail to see my point and just try make it out that I'm attacking be women or some shit.

So it's a rant. Yes.

But I would genuinely like some neutral opinions.

Dont turn it into name calling or abuse slinging.......

Can't we all just get along

For a start "sticks" hardly compares with "fat yokes", secondly I wouldn't think the "sticks" would care a jot what a larger person thinks as they're probably incompatible. They'd most likely close the profile & think 'next'.

Abuse is wrong in all forms as you say. You are also correct in my opinion regarding the ones who consider themselves the normally abused should not have the right to abuse. A lot of that ilk will probably report this thread.

Why doesn't it compare?

It's a derogatory term describing their body and making no attempt to mask the fact your mocking said body shape.

Maybe have a chat with a few of the 'sticks' who've been shut out and abused to the point where they no longer get invited to socials parties etc and inevitably just leave fab as it's simply no longer fun with the cliques running the show.

The whole place thinks body shaming is only from thin people in the direction of large people.

When the fact is there's more large people who abuse the thin people. But it's never challenged

Maybe I'm attempting it here.

But as pointed out above this is probably gonna be reported and twisted into me fat shaming or something else equally as ridiculous.

everyone has their own ways. If the status offends you. You should report it and let admin make a decision. It's not good to make assumptions but in this case, we could safely assume the user has been rejected due to their size on numerous occasions. They may just be venting a bit of frustration. In these type of scenarios wording is not always concentrated on. The intent of malice or offence is hard to gauge. As a result, I personally would let it slide, unless this was another addition to a long line of political incorrectness. Conclusion, give them a bye ball.

Fair play to you for bringing this up...

I joined swinging sites back in 2008, quickly realised that APPARENTLY it is ok for the ladies to hop on the bandwagon when BBWs or overly curvey women get insulted...

The forums were littered with posts on the subject....

Yet when it was pointed out that it is also unfair to insult slim.or thin women, the banshees attacked those who dared speak out...

In my social circle my friends range from thin to large, this is fact, not once have I judged on size, yet as a slim woman am judged daily....

On FB those memes insulting slim women, curvy women are fab, men do not like bones ect are a disgrace, have deleted friends who share them.

Judging on size is wrong, having preferences is fine and a fact of life...

Fairplay again for this post

OP I see your point. I have commented on these threads before about bbws. Only cause to compliment one size people feel the need to insult another.

Plus "real women have curves" line makes me want to scream.

Thank you.

I intended to point out as you have that my circle of friends is as varied as it is mental also lol big small and everything in between.

I'm in no way trying to attack a size group.

I'm just frustrated that people see it as fair game to insult or abuse thin fit or healthy women and then go ape sh#t if someone makes a remark about larger women.

Ive seen all those memes about real men love curves etc.

It's pathetic.

Of course there are men who love larger ladies. (Hell some of my best meets have been with women who aren't a size 6. Hot is hot regardless)

In the exact same way some love short or tall or thin.

And it goes both ways.

I'm certainly not every woman's favourite body type. far from it.

But should that give me the right to abuse the guys who's type they prefer?

Clearly not!

Sometimes true...

A couple I knew had to leave a party one night after the host was told by the others that the couple were fat slobs

The poor woman was in the downstairs loo and overheard them...

Instead of the hosts feckin out the ignorant tossers, they chose to tell the couple to leave...

Turns out the hubby was trying to get up the swing ladder

Factual is not rude. They use stick because they know slim won't offend. I don't agree fat or slim people should be insulted but there is a clique of bigger women who try needle the slim ones.

A I wasn't using the term myself

I was simply asking how would people react if I used it.

And the responses here have answered it perfectly.

FAT is not a derogatory term.

Unless of course someone sees shame in being fat. Then they will say it's offensive as they see being fat as a negative thing and take objection to me using that term and claim it's derogatory.

It I'm not the one making that decision.

In order for someone to take offence to something they need to see something being implied ands negative. If they see fat as being negative that's their choice not mine.

Just the same as thin or skinny etc.

My whole point is completely being lost on you.

I pointed out I've zero issues with large women whatsoever.

It's the double standards and 'fit shaming' that I take issue with

My two cents - like what you like. If someone has a status liking a body type then choose whether you want to like that person accordingly or block. It is ok to be offended sometimes, it doesn't kill us and we all have different opinions. Some people put up they won't see smokers/bi/asian/fat/skinny etc, well that's up to them and if I don't like it..well tough, I'm not going to force them!

The situation at the party is unfortunate but just as easy could have been about race, penis size, religion etc, it's hurtful she heard but it's the hosts decision to do what they want. Do you really think they should have thrown out people they agreed with in order to spare her feelings? Party would be rather strained afterwards if so!

Hardly about sparing her feelings, try aligning himself with pathetic numptys who saw them as FAT SLOBS....

On its own no, fat is not a derogatory word.

Which person would you call fat and think they'd NOT take it as an insult. So I challenge your assumption that it is NOT derogatory because in most cases calling someone fat is.

Yes it is. However in party or any social situations there will always be the preferred type etc. It's selfish scene by its nature. Would more at the party have preferred which couple there I wonder. The old nsa mental attitude argument again. I'm not condoning it but I'm not blinkering myself due to political correctness.

Very interesting thread. My tuppence worth is that being of a petite frame myself, have no issue with size and we all like different body types. There enough to go around. I would never post a status or thread about size related. I do say in my profile my preference is for body type like my own. I would hate to offend anyone. But yes, thanks OP because there is double standards on fab. There should be no shaming of size whether size of the spectrum you happen to be on.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder what the response would be? I'm sure it would be explosive. Then there is the term 'real men'. What is a real man? When this term is used, it usually consists of a photo of a muscled Adonis. Is this a real man? Well really it's just a model in good physical shape. What is real though? Is it the average man or is it the best male specimen. If we look around at the animal kingdom. The planet is occupied by the survivors of many a different form of natural upheaval. As humans, we are the dominant species. Most life in this planet is in optimum shape to survive the environment. With the advancement in our society, we no longer have the need( for the vast majority in the first world ) to go out and hunt and gather our food. It has become a world of basic needs on our doorstep. A world of plenty. The fact that we are an inherently greedy species, lends many to the over indulgent psychi. There are many over weight people around our doorsteps. Fat is a reserve and a necessary reserve. There is an ideal however. So maybe the tag line should be ideal man or ideal woman. Only for the physical requirements of survival. In a society where we don't really require the ideal human form to survive any longer. Attractiveness is a wide open and personal thing. So for men and women. Is a slim, healthy and athletic body ideal? Yes it is. Very much so and the instinctive attraction to that type of body is in many of us. If a survey could be carried out the world over, I would guess that overweight people of both sexes would not come out as having the ideal look. So is it wrong to pretty much say it how it is? I don't think so. We are all a product of our society, every last one of us. So it is a failing in society that produces the obesity epidemic, crime etc. Physical exercise and nutrition, should be drilled into us from an early age. It's not however. It all boils down to money and greed. The food industry, pharmaceuticals, oil, banks....they all profit from greed. Overindulgence produces profits and debt. It's a never ending circle. Companies and banks now it and feed of it. We seem to be an addictive race, which will more than likely be our downfall.

Political correctness is just another way of helping not to change things and protect the over indulgence of many. Pandering to insecurities. Molly cuddling everyone. If people all of a sudden all decided to eat healthily, exercise, stop watching shite on tv, enjoyed the outdoors. The food industry would be in trouble, oil companies would be in trouble, banks would suffer, pharmaceutical companies would be fooked, less drugs requires for a healthier world.....many industries would go by the wayside but new ones would flourish. So although I'm attracted to curvy women as well as slim and athletic. There is a fine line. I am not attracted to over weight women. For a number of reasons. I don't find the excess fat attractive and I feel that over weight people do have insecurities and may not have a strong enough character. A weak will, lack of drive to mention a few. That's just me. I admire people who look after themselves. How's that for controversial?

"OP I see your point. I have commented on these threads before about bbws. Only cause to compliment one size people feel the need to insult another.

Plus "real women have curves" line makes me want to scream.

Can you imagine the apocalyptic response if I posted a pic of a toned lady with 'real men lI've thin women' lol

Sure you'd be banned and banished before you could say six-pack lol

I myself wouldn't consider that controversial at all. You just stated your preference and why. You did not belittle anyone. I find it admirable in a way.

A couple I knew had to leave a party one night after the host was told by the others that the couple were fat slobs

The poor woman was in the downstairs loo and overheard them...

Instead of the hosts feckin out the ignorant tossers, they chose to tell the couple to leave...

Turns out the hubby was trying to get up the swing ladder "

Why was the couple asked to leave though? Was the host given some kind of ultimatum? The husband sounds like a spineless prick

That's the problem, it wouldn't be whoever said it suffering as they'd be thrown out already, rather the poor couple who it was said about would remain at a party with some resentment and everyone knowing what was said and done- IMO they're better off away and playing with people who do appreciate and respect them. As for the husband he is either a spineless prick or he agreed with the comment but didn't want to say so in which case he's a..well a spineless prick!

There is also the chance of course that maybe they were indeed 'fat slobs', we weren't there so can't really judge

As for blinkering by political correctness. The flat slobs comment was apparently overheard. Presumably this was meant to be private conversation between someone. Does this mean the person it was said about confronted someone on their opinion which they are entitled to have. Therefore why should anyone be asked to leave unless argument ensued. I honestly don't know I wasn't there.

Now as for the statement fat slob away from these people who I can't say are or are not there are fat slobs out there either way so it's accurate description somewhere.

Fair enough Miss S, but to be fair we were invited to comment without knowing this background, I'm guessing it was friends of yours, I'm sure it was horrible but I still believe they were better off leaving in this case whether it was forced or not.

As for the main issue by the OP, size shaming does go both ways and is not right and is usually bullying, however I just don't think people should get upset by a status update from someone they've never met, doesn't know them and are better of ignoring that person anyway.

Think that's six cents worth, you lucky people!

On its own no, fat is not a derogatory word.

Which person would you call fat and think they'd NOT take it as an insult. So I challenge your assumption that it is NOT derogatory because in most cases calling someone fat is.

And yeah, I think your point is becoming lost. You feel the need to stick up for skinny women because??? "

Again my point is lost but apparently just on you.

Being called fat is offensive only if you see being fat as a negative thing. But these are the people claiming big is beautiful and I love my curves etc so why would they see being fat as a bad thing when they're clearly embracing it. And more power to them. Let them on.

It's when they turn the tables and throw the abuse at the very people they will claim they're the victim of fat shaming to that it riles me up.

And for the record I am not sticking up for 'skinny' think you'll find I regularly use the terms fit and healthy. And I'm sticking up for them because I'm in that group.

Am i not entitled to?

I've had smart remarks bitchy comments etc Sent my way because of my lifestyle choices. All from people who throw the fat shaming card at the drop of a hat.

So while this strange crusade you have against me for this post is rather humurous it's doing nothing for the discussion I was looking to have.

I like the way your body is too lol.

See your healthy self confidence is great but not every one has that.

And this is my entire point.

Just because someone isnt fat does not mean they have perfect self image.

Body dysmorphia is just as prevalent in slim people as it is with heavy.

And slagging off a fit slim or healthy or whatever shape will still have negatove repercussions on this persons wellbeing.

But because their not fat noone sees an issue.

I'm just highlighting the double standards and simply pointing out there's zero need for it.

But yes, thanks OP because there is double standards on fab. There should be no shaming of size whether size of the spectrum you happen to be on. "

"Very interesting thread.

No problem

Glad it's appreciated.

The snotty mails I received are well worth it as I've had lovely ones from others too.

Did happen to attempt to thank you in a mail but you've dudes blocked so I'm currently thinking of a way to post a rant about that

(Joking lol)

Ooh oops. Go on start a thread, I'd like to see one's opinion on that

"This thread got completely derailed by that silly party story

Op, I think a person who puts up a status like that has most likely a low self-confidence and isn't happy about her own body shape. Insulting others seems to make her feel better about herself.

At the same time I couldn't be bothered by someone calling me stick, I've a healthy self-confidence and I like the way my body is. "

This really did boil my piss

You may call.it silly but at least the original comment was relevant to the inital post from the OP

You've poked holes in nothing.

Every post was avoiding the whole point of the original post and instead somehow trying to make it out that I myself had issues with bigger people.

And it was very ill-concealed aswell.

So yes heave away the crusade as you put it

When I started to get mails saying oh you've gotten to that one now. I KNEW what it was referring to.

That says it all.

But thanks for taking part in today's discussion nonetheless

Weather the person be overweight or thin they will appeal to someone....what a boring place we'd have if we had all the same tastes in people...I don't agree with the slagging off of either slim women or chubby or overweight ladies, it's bullying no matter what way you look at it and these people who feel the need to do maybe should take a long look at themselves as I'm sure they are flawless themselves. It's hard enough for people to deal with their own insecurities without dealing with people who think they have the God given right to judge them.

"Just saw a status.

"

Never understood this rampant double standard myself. One side get vilified and the other side get away with saying what they like with very few pulling them up on it.

You have to feel sorry for the repeat offenders who obviously are so insecure they need to insult others to feel better about themselves.

No matter what your body size or shape there is no need for it to be critisised. If it's not for you then move on to one that is. It's not difficult.

"For a start "sticks" hardly compares with "fat yokes", secondly I wouldn't think the "sticks" would care a jot what a larger person thinks as they're probably incompatible. They'd most likely close the profile & think 'next'.

Hi again,

Perhaps if you showed the women in question this thread, they would consider returning..

Outside of the bullshit the obvious support against size shaming is overwhelming...

The days of so called cliques dictating who has fun on sites is long gone, if you judge by this thread

As a FAT woman myself, I don't enjoy being called fat. Unless they're FAT too, then it's ok sometimes It's the same in other situations eg if you're Irish it's ok to make fun of Irish stereo types, but if the one making fun of it is English, it would insult many.

And even some slim people don't enjoy being called thin. Because for some it has a negative twang.

I don't particularly like someone to tell me because I don't like being called FAT I obviously have a problem with my size. It's just a negative way of describing my wobbly, big boned, large, curvy figure.

But I agree that it's not ok to call slim people STICKS. Its offensive.

But why do you assume that someone gets away with it or its accepted?

Mind you, you may not see men's status updates on your newsfeed? Almost daily there are guys complaining about fat women or is this the fatty site?

I can't be arsed getting offended by that. I just block them and move on.

And about all those posts on here and FB about real women etc? I find them embarrassing tbh. Because size has nothing to do about being a real woman.

Be nice to each other. Life is short and shitty enough not to be!

Size does matter, but in a good way. In other words everyone is entitled to choose who they think they're attracted too.....but most importantly nobody deserves to get abused by anyone. There are no models (aka) mister or Ms world on this site, we're all just here for fun. Good point to bring up though ??
