I bartended in the US for a couple of years a long long time ago, it's easy enough, u only need to know about a half a dozen popular cocktails, a shaker and a bucket of ice and ul be grand. Irish people will drink anything after a couple of hours lol Id oblige if I was up in dublin but I'm unfortunately not up there next week |

Why dont you buy the proper gear needed then let the guests create their own cocktails..
Tell them to invent the sexiest, durtiest cocktail then can |

You'll need to have gomme / syrup made in advance
You'll need to have lemon and limes juiced and in a controllable pouring container
You'll need measures
You'll need several shakers and help with constant cleaning.
You'll need a much wider selection of alcohol than you'd normally have at a party - martini, cointreau etc.
Madame is correct in that it is too consuming a task for a hostess to have time to do herself. |

No shit Sherlock?
The vast majority of the popular cocktails are easy to make and what you're describing is a kitted out cocktail bar with a bar back doing the cleaning and fetching. For the bar man so good luck with that |

Always amusing to see ignorance paraded as internet insults and bullying.
A basic cocktail is made of four ingredients in an exact balance. Getting that balance wrong results in a rotten drink which is a waste of alcohol. Maybe if you are just happy to throw sugared alcohol at people they are 'easy to make' but one suspects the hostess is looking for a proper cocktail making experience. Which is perfectly possible for one person to do, especially if any initial rush is over, but not something that can be done to any standard without knowledge and preparation. And expense, notably glassware. |

how patronizing are you? u clearly you are missing the point im making, the vast majority of popular cocktails are easy to make and u dont require a lot of the stuff you talk about. if the o.p. wants what you are describing u need to call a catering company who specialises in it, getting a full bar and equipment and a barback who does the donkeywork for the bartender so i suggest that you ease back on the condescending attitude there. i was a professional cocktail bartender in the united states so i know what im talking about and i dont need a lesson in how to make drinks. |

If you start a reply to someone with 'no shit sherlock' expect to be replied to in the same manner.
Adding your qualifications adds nothing to the debate as should be clear from the knowledge displayed in other posts. |

well you highlighted the 'obvious' (albeit unneccesarily) by describing a fully kitted out cocktail bar accompanied by bar staff needed. The vast majority of the stuff you are talking about arent really needed for the majority of the popular cocktails certainly at a impromtu party. But maybe you know best as your condescending attitude certainly gives the impression you are an expert on such matters |

This is the way it is I put my hands up and apologize to anyone who took offence by my first comment, I was in no way trying to degrade the Irish as I was mailed and told I was, as I am Irish myself!! But if you can't laugh at yourself you can laugh at nobody, also if you didn't laugh you would cry, so for anyone I have offended I am sorry and also very sorry for you.
Ten - Four over and out! |

You seem very keen on keeping on insulting people. Must be a strategy that works for you. |
