Time to Remember....

...those who have gone before us...

I was talking to a group of people today....one of them was talking about her sister who had lost her baby at childbirth....it was still born.....

It made me remember....23 years ago of a friends baby who died of cot death at 3.5 years old..... I loved that baby so so much..... I saw her alive & dead in one day..... I remember that day so vividly even now.....

....I also remember both my parents who have gone....

This thread is about remember loved ones, whether a family member, a friend or someone who made you heartbroken....

.....I will light a candle for those people over xmas to remember them....

..... I know this is a sad thread but we can't forget those who have been taken away from us while we party away.....

I agree 100%. I lost 6 friends this year. It makes you think how valuable life is. It should be enjoyed as much as we can. Sad time for family's and friends who lost someone. Nice post well done

Very sad but thought invoking post , thank you so much for posting it . Lost my mother on Xmas eve 20 years ago . Not a day goes by that I don't think of her in some way .

I'd like to type a more meaningful and heartfelt reply. But I'm having trouble seeing the screen now. It is easy to forget that this time of year can be difficult for some.

While I can not offer prayers, to all those feeling down or disheartened in this festive time, i wish you well. Keep the head up, try to smile.

Even if that can seem like a struggle.

Great topic.

Have lost far too many people in my life and seeing how much death can affect a family stopped me doing something very stupid a few years ago when times were hard.

All we can do is remember our loved ones and laugh at the funny memories, and try to forget about the bad ones.

Guys tears are good... theyre part of the healing process and weeping is good therapy and a built in coping mechanism when you feel you cant cope.

I think all of us have experienced grief at some stage in our lives and tears are not an unmanly emotion. It shows your human and that you cared and loved those youve lost.

Its takes time to get used to the loved one not being there anymore.Eventually youll find comfort in the memories you shared. Xxxx

Well for one example, my grandad waited about half an hour in the garden one Halloween night, dressed in nothing but a bed sheet just to scare us all when we made it to his house.

I much prefer to remember him for the energetic and gas man he was and not by what the cancer made him become by the end.

My town

My mum has been gone three years. Every year since her parting we put up theses family carol singers up they are quite big and if I'm honest there horrible and sing silent night.

6 years ago she saw them in a shop in Dublin and paid a huge amount for them coming home on the train was a nightmare nearly caused arguments cause they so big .

She called them her family I know she's up there and happy knowing the family is down and in the place she always put them even though we all not that fond of them.

to make things easy that I couldn't bear

I'm jealous of some girls,boys

girls/boys who still have their mothers

I tell them to appreciate what they have,

because after they are gone,

there simply is no others.

I have this pain that won't go away,

it makes me mad that you couldn't stay

No matter many years go by

there's still one time of day that I do cry,

I miss you dearly and this is true,

my wound will not heal until I'm with you

Yes this can be a very sad time of year for people. I lost my grandfather 12 years ago now and I still miss him so much. Also lost a baby at 5 months. I know my granddad is keeping her safe. Bless them both .

Great thread rose ! I've been thinking about this a lot lately ! More than Xmas I hate new year its just a reminder of the many many people I have lost and its another year without them . This year I will however be a bit more thankful, that my father in law has managed to hang on to spend another Xmas with us is the best thing we could ask for xx

My mum was a huge rod Stewart fan and after booking twice to go she kept taking ill, finally last time he was in Belfast we made it, me, mum, 2 sisters n mum in law, Mr Gee too. We wheeled her in the chair with prude, tartan hats, scarfs the lot, and best part was when Maggie may came on, up she got outta her wheel chair and danced away, more people clapped at that than anything xx

We smile when we remember. Took a while but I hold on to that dearly xxxx

Thinking of my dad and my baby girl who I lost within 9 days of each other. Dad always told me he'd be babysitting on the day of my wedding and he was....gave me some comfort on the big day. He was a real character and my idol. Hard to pick a memory of him as there are so many xx

14 years ago I lost a very close cousin and friend to suicide. She was the life and soul of any party. There is not one day that has passed since that I haven't thought of her in some way or other.

Having lost various relatives, friends and work colleagues over the years there's always a comment by the mother that hits home when ever we go to an elderly persons funeral.

Not many at the funeral, the older you get, the more people that die before you. .... So think of the elderly, they may not have many friends as they once had and may like some company from time to time.

I lost my three older children a few days before christmas time 22yrs ago not a day goes by I don't think about them we made a star for the Christmas tree a few days before I lost them and they helped me put glitter on it that star goes on my christmas tree every year since and always will take pride of place

I'll will remember my trucking family that passed away doing their job this Xmas.my trucking pals are my real brothers and sisters. I don't have close family other than those that lives under my roof, for my trucking friends, they are the knights of the road. When I get lonely I listen to this song, I believe it picks me up, or at least it has so far

Lost Mum on 9th March this year. Even though she couldn't walk more than 10-15 feet in the last month and a half, she was still doing a bit of gardening last year and sitting & supervising me to make sure I did the rest right... But most amazing was that she walked around Bruges for 3 days last November no problem... If nothing else I know where I got my particular 'sense of humour', thanks Mum... Missing and thinking of her more in the last couple of days in the lead up to Xmas...

Yes indeed that's why I put up this thread because it's good to remember our loved ones & friends who has passed on....... we can have a giggle to ourselves at the things in which they made you laugh!!!

Sorry to hear that. I lost my Dad a couple of months ago, but I'm going to make bloody sure I have a great Christmas, and remember fondly the good times with him and lost friends, and toast them all repeatedly.

Thanks for this thread Rosie.I have lost a few friends to road traffic accidents and family members to cancer and strokes.

Christmas is a hard time for anyone who has lost a loved one a family member etc. Its a time of happiness but also great sadness.

My dad lost his mother on Christmas day many moons ago but. But its still a very sad day Morning every year.

Everyone copes with it differently but what ever works for you is best :P

As part of my work I transfer sick people, The hard ones are the ''Angel trips'' where we are bringing a person to there last place before they grow there angel wings to heaven.

They can be sad times but with some element of happiness depending on the person and family in question.

My dad always said when your time is up its up no mater where you are.

I will light a few candles on Christmas for My my loved ones who have passed on but also for all they have left behind
