Just relooked at this and realised there's only 5 on the list that I've not seen live, go me!

Zakk Wylde and Slash are great but both suffer from the same problem. Endless fret-wanking solos during their live shows.

I must say, all the guitarists in the Point Sunday night were excellent. Scott Gorham never lost it!

I can't single out one guitarist to pick to be honest.

Neil Young - I know few would agree with me. Not for his technical ability but for emotion, energy and great melody.

Technique on its own is soulless.

Feck!

So hard to choose just one.

Dave Gilmore is an amazing talent. Really knows how to put a solo together.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a slick set of fingers and took Albert Kings style to another level.

Guys like Pete Townsend, Paul Weller and Wilko Johnson, who can make a one guitar band sound like an orchestra.

Angus Young. He can make that huge sound form a few open chords and the minor pentatonic scale.

Feck! Impossible to choose one!

Most of my faves are dead, sadly. Living, I'd have to say Tommy Emmanuel is up there for being able to do just anything with an acoustic guitar.

my own personal favourites would include Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai and John Sykes.

Simon McBride from Carrickfergus direction is a worthy local player in the mould of Moore or Gallagher.
