the right side of the river

After being in the uk for a few weeks and attended a party that was held in a hotel suite type of thing. Sitting room / kitchen, two bedrooms and bathrooms. Cost split between the people. The chat and craic was pleasant and relaxed. Mix of couples and single ladies and lads. Not too many people.

Anyway I was wondering if there would be any interest in setting up something like that here. The downfall of this is the no shows who then make it more expensive for everyone else. But maybe something like paying up front with the like of PayPal would solve this. I'm just throwing ideas out there to see what people think. Also mid week deals in some hotels might keep the cost down, not that I am trying to be a cheapskate. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Or venues you might know of don't be afraid to suggest them.

So who might be interested in attending if something can be arranged.

Here is where I do a bit of shameless self advertising lol Our parties are just as you've described. Check out our party profile page - BlackCanadianPartyProfile - and see is that what you had in mind

The where and when could be somewhere different each time I suppose. That way everyone should have an opportunity to attend a party. Or even look at organising one in their own general area.

Do agree about the no shows but as well as affecting the cost of the night to the hosts they also skew the numbers which as a host you have kept to a certain ratio of males to females .

Yes that could turn it into a sausagefest alright. That's why the PayPal thing might cut down on the no shows and keep the time wasters at bay.

Yes , as single guys for the most part all do turn up , it's rare to get a guy cancelling on you . PayPal would be great or something similar , but then do you organise refunds for ppl who don't show ? Do ppl lose the deposit? Etc Between finding venues , sending out invitations , replying to ppl , getting the venue ready to your standard , organising food and then the work after the party dealing with feedback , writing verifications etc it would be something else to be done Instead of it being a problem solver it brings up a whole new set of problems but I'm glad you started this discussion

And as crazy/ stupid as it may sound after all that , like other hosts on the site , we do it because we want ultimately like minded people like ourselves to have a great time and love organising parties.

It's the same situation for most minority or otherwise organisations or groups and it does not have to be for the swinger population that it is usually a key few that organise an event. No shows will always be a way of life. So hats off to u guys and others in the forum for organising events....

Completely agree and we are mere newbies on the scene compared to some hosts on here so our hats off to them also

The trick is, to over subscribe the number of attendees.

As with every party no matter how well you think you've organised it and made sure that all invited have confirmed. Even right up until the last minute all still confirmed . You'll be 100% sure people will still pull out.. Lol.

But then you send a guest list to ppl and they think it's too huge a number and decide not to attend even if you explain that you are adding in for no shows both fake and genuine but thankfully I'm done with the stress of parties for now , going to be nice just to be an attendee ! Lol

Suite house or apartment and the cost split between those attending is the way virtually all parties are run, as to no shows that is easily avoided by chatting to prospective attendees and sussing out via verifications etc who are dependable or not etc
